Donald Trump Reveals if Melania Supports His Presidential Ambitions, Why She Isn't Campaigning

Donald Trump is opening up about his relationship with his wife Melania.

The 77-year-old presidential candidate has not gotten much public support from his wife since announcing his plans to run for office again in the 2024 election. She has also been absent from campaign events, leading to questions about if she supports his decision.

In a recent interview, Donald explained his wife’s absence and revealed what she really thought about his ambitions amid multiple controversies.

Speaking to Meet the Press journalist Kristen Welker, Donald explained that he chose to keep his wife out of the public eye.

“Honestly, I like to keep her away from it. It’s so nasty and so mean,” he explained, via People.

Despite that, he said that his wife was “very, very supportive” and would be campaigning with him at some point. When? “Soon, yeah, pretty soon. When it’s appropriate, but pretty soon.”

In the meantime, Melania is with their son Barron.

Donald opined that his wife is “very popular” but appreciates not being in the public eye. “She’s a private person — a great person, a very confident person — and she loves our country very much,” he said.

Melania has largely remained silent about her husband’s multiple controversies since he left office. Back in May, a source explained why she was unlikely to publicly respond to her husband’s loss in court to E. Jean Carroll, who accused him of raping her in 1996. If you forgot, he was deemed liable in a battery and defamation trial and owes his accuser $5 million.
