Tim Burton Reveals What He Really Thought Of Nicolas Cage's Superman Cameo in 'The Flash'

Tim Burton is opening up about how he feels about the surprise inclusion of Nicolas Cage as Superman in The Flash movie.

If you’re unaware, there was a planned Superman movie starring Nicolas as the titular hero called Superman Lives in the 1990s. However, it was cancelled after Tim worked nearly two years on it.

In a new interview, Tim revealed that he wasn’t the biggest fan of the cameo.

Tim told the British Film Institute that the cameo was just another AI tactic that he was not happy about.

“It goes into another AI thing, and this is why I think I’m over it with the studio. They can take what you did, Batman or whatever, and culturally misappropriate it, or whatever you want to call it,” he shared. “Even though you’re a slave of Disney or Warner Brothers, they can do whatever they want. So in my latter years of life, I’m in quiet revolt against all this.”

In addition to the cameo, Tim also spoke about Superman Lives, and his regrets that the film didn’t get made.

“I will say this: when you work that long on a project and it doesn’t happen, it affects you for the rest of your life,” he adds. “Because you get passionate about things, and each thing is an unknown journey, and it wasn’t there yet. But it’s one of those experiences that never leaves you, a little bit.”

This isn’t the first time Tim has spoken out against using AI in movies.
