The 44-year-old Charmed and The Man in the High Castle actor is set to take on the role in the Netflix series after the first season teased a storyline involving the character in its final image of a bee on a windowsill. (Edmund died at age 38 due to an allergic reaction to a bee sting.)
Here’s more of a description: “Evans’ Edmund is a loving and devoted husband, whose true love match with Violet Bridgerton gave them eight perfect children. He’s also an endlessly patient and kind father, who takes special pride in guiding his eldest son Anthony through life.”
The second season is now in production in London, England, and will focus on Anthony Bridgerton’s (Jonathan Bailey) quest for love as written in the second book from Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series The Viscount Who Loved Me.
Edmund’s death had a lasting impact on Anthony, who had to take over the viscounty when he was 18 years old.
He joins previously cast lead Simone Ashley, who plays Kate Sharma, Charithra Chandran, who plays Edwina Sharma, and Rupert Young (Jack), Shelley Conn (Mary Sharma) and Calam Lynch (Theo Sharpe).
