Julia Roberts Wins Cinematheque Award
Academy Award winner Julia Roberts (in Diane von Furstenberg) picks up the 22nd Annual American Cinematheque Award at the Beverly Hilton Hotel’s International Ballroom on Friday in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Denzel Washington presented his The Pelican Brief co-star with the award during the annual benefit gala.
“The American Cinematheque is extremely pleased to honor Julia Roberts at our celebration this year,” said Rick Nicita, Chairman of the Board of the American Cinematheque. “Julia Roberts is a true movie star who has delighted audiences and critics in so many pictures, from her first screen appearance in Mystic Pizza through mega-hits like Pretty Woman and Runaway Bride to her Academy Award-winning performance in Erin Brockovich and many, many more. Moviegoers are eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the career of this beloved actress and we are looking forward to thanking her for all that she’s already given us.”
Last year, Julia presented the award to pal George Clooney. Al Pacino won in 2005 and Steve Martin in 2004.
