Garth Brooks Won't Play Inauguration Due to His Tour Schedule

Garth Brooks is speaking out to clarify why he won’t be performing at Donald Trump‘s presidential inauguration this week and it sounds like his absence is not due to any political reasons.

The 54-year-old country singer told fans in a Facebook Live broadcast that he can’t perform as he will be on tour in Cincinnati.

Garth explained that his friend Steve Wynn, who is organizing the entertainment portion of the inauguration, asked him to perform and he decided to wait and see if he would need to fill up his tour schedule with more shows due to demand. The demand was high, so he had to book more shows.

“We left it up to karma. If Cincinnati goes two weekends instead of one, then of course we are out. Sure enough, Cincinnati did five shows, two weekends and backed us up into there, so we got knocked out of it,” Garth said.

Jennifer Holliday Pulls Out of Inauguration Concert, Apologizes to LGBT Community

Jennifer Holliday has announced she will no longer perform at the welcome concert for Donald Trump‘s Presidential Inauguration festivities after she realized how she hurt her LGBT fans.

The 56-year-old Tony-winning actress originated the role of Effie in Dreamgirls on Broadway and she just wrapped a run in The Color Purple.

A big part of Jennifer‘s fan base lies in the LGBT community and she decided to pull out of the event after backlash from them.

Jennifer says the concert was presented to her as the “Welcome Concert for the People” and she focused on that when she made her decision to perform.

“My only choice must now be to stand with the LGBT Community and to state unequivocally that I WILL NOT PERFORM FOR THE WELCOME CONCERT OR FOR ANY OF THE INAUGURATION FESTIVITIES!” Jennifer wrote in an open letter obtained by TheWrap.

Rebecca Ferguson Won't Perform at Trump's Inauguration, No 'Strange Fruit' Performance Happening

Rebecca Ferguson, best known for being a contestant on The X Factor UK, was asked to perform at Donald Trump‘s inauguration next week and agreed only if she could the classic song “Strange Fruit.”

The Billie Holiday tune has strong significance to oppressed people and she felt it would be the perfect, and only, song she could sing at the event.

“Due to circumstances beyond my control concerning the offer to perform at the Inauguration Concert, I was thrown into the middle of a political arena last week,” Rebecca said in a statement this week. “I wasn’t comfortable with the song choice made on my behalf, and although I’m very blessed to have a gift that gives me amazing opportunities, as a mother and an artist, I had to defend my stance. That is why I made the decision to sing ‘Strange Fruit’ when I was invited.”
