The 53-year-old actress and comedian accepted the award for The Comedy Act of 2020 during the event on Sunday (November 15) at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.
During her speech, Leslie preached about the importance of voting.
“This award was a People’s Choice Award and you chose me. I love you for that. As you can see, going out and voting makes a real difference. Okay? But, it can also win a sweet award for a very, very, very grateful, very grateful comedian,” she said.
Only a small portion of the winners were revealed during the live event, which took place on Sunday (November 15) at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.

BTS was the big winner of the night, taking home all four of the awards that they were nominated for in the music categories.
The 51-year-old actress and singer was awarded the special People’s Icon of 2020 honor.
Jennifer gave an inspiring speech that touched on things that have happened in 2020, the highlights in her career, and paving the way for young Latina girls.
“Man, 2020 was no joke right? I mean before 2020 we were obsessing about winning this award or getting nominated for that award or we were caught up in who sold the most records or box office opening or crazy stuff like did we get the latest drop before anybody else. But not this year. This year was the great leveler,” Jennifer said during her speech.
She continued, “It showed us what mattered, what didn’t. And for me, reinforced what mattered most: People, all of us, together. Helping each other, loving each other, being kind to each other. And the importance of that connection, that human touch. I realized that’s what I strive for in everything I do. To reach people, to touch people. I believe that’s what we all want, those shared experiences to know that we’re not in this alone. Your belief and your faith in me motivates me to keep going and sometimes when I’m tired or beaten down, like a lot of us have been this year, it’s my family, friends, my babies and my fans, you guys, who have lifted me up when I couldn’t lift myself. I am so grateful to have you, to have that in my life.”
“You know I approach my career the same way I approach my life. I lead with life, I feel with my heart and I always try to speak truth in telling stories, singing songs. I do so with the purpose of bringing a little happiness, creating beauty and inspiring others to do the same. From being a little girl in the Bronx, New York, and having the privilege of performing on some of the biggest stages in the world, and even at the Super Bowl earlier this year, that was a biggie! I have seen and learned a lot and I am still learning. I want to thank you and tell you how much I appreciate you for letting me do that in front of you for all of these years,” Jennifer said.
She added, “As a Latina and as a woman, we have to work twice as hard to get the opportunities, sometimes my big dreams and my ambitions, it made the people around me nervous. ‘You can’t be an actress. You’re an actress, what you want to sing? You’re an artist, you won’t be taken seriously as a businesswoman.’ The more that they said I couldn’t, the more I knew that I had to. So now here I stand so very grateful knowing that the true measure of my success is not in box office numbers or records sold, but from the love that I feel from all of you.”
Jennifer got emotional and continued, “The true measure is inspiring girls in all ages and all colors, from all over the world, to know you can do whatever want, as many things as you want and to be proud of who you are no matter where you come from. I want them to know your dreams are limited only by your imagination, determination and their willingness to never give up. If I have touched you or them in any small way, then this is the greatest award I could ever receive. I accept this award with great humility and gratitude, and hope we can begin to heal as a country and stand together united and proud, and in harmony.”

The 26-year-old singer took to the stage for a performance at the 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards on Sunday (November 15) at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.
The 48-year-old actress won the Comedy TV Star of 2020 award for her work on the ABC series Modern Family.
“This is a very, very special award because, as you know, nine months ago we finished Modern Family forever,” she said while accepting the award. “So, this is the last award that I’m ever, ever gonna receive for the show, the show that changed my life. My career.”
“I want to thank you for making me a part of this fantastic show,” she added. “I really, really miss it. I love it. I had the best time in my life, and I appreciated every single moment I was there.”
Sofia gave a shout-out to a co-star before leaving the stage. She said, “I miss you, Ed O’Neill!”
The 48-year-old Black-ish actress wore a brown suit on the red carpet and then fittingly changed into a second look to accept the award for Fashion Icon of 2020.
Tracee made sure to thank the magazine industry, stylists she’s worked with (including Karla Welch), designers, her father, and her mother Diana Ross, who she called “the icon herself.”
“Not only for her great parenting … but also her example, her sense of style, her epic closet and her glamour that introduced me to the power of fashion,” Tracee said.
She also talked about how she’d go on stage to collect the beads that fell off her mom’s dresses “so that I could have pieces of the magic, seeds of the fashion dream that I was cultivating for myself.”

The 44-year-old country singer took home the award for Country Artist of 2020 at the 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards on Sunday (November 15) at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.
During his acceptance speech, Blake gave a sweet shout-out to his fiancee.
“Thank you to my new fiancée, Gwen Stefani. That’s S-t-e-f-a-n-i, if you need to Google it to figure out who she is. Thanks for the inspiration,” Blake joked.
Blake and Gwen revealed that after five years of dating, and spending most of this year in quarantine together in Oklahoma, they had gotten engaged.
