Jake Gyllenhaal to Play Author of 'The Woman in the Window' in TV Series About His Complex Life

Jake Gyllenhaal has joined the cast of an upcoming television series based on The New Yorker article A Suspense Novelist’s Trail of Deceptions!

The series will follow the complex life of Dan Mallory, a former book editor who released his debut novel “The Woman in the Window” under the pseudonym A.J. Finn. The book was a smash hit and went to number one on the New York Times Bestseller list, marking the first time that a debut novel has reached that achievement in 12 years.

The Woman in the Window has also been adapted into a movie starring Amy Adams.

Deadline reports that the series will “follow an unreliable narrator who nurses brain tumors he does not have and mourns family members who are not dead while preying on people’s sympathy to get away with almost anything.”

Janicza Bravo, the writer and director of the upcoming movie Zola, will write and direct the series, which she is also executive producing.

“What may have started out as my dog ate homework turns into my mother died of cancers, my brother took his life and I have a double doctorate,” Janicza said in a statement. “Our protagonist is white, male and pathological. There is a void in him and he fills it by duping people. He’s a scammer. The series examines white identity and how we as an audience participate in making room for this behavior. Getting to partner with Annapurna and Nine Stories is a gift and I am most thrilled for what lies ahead.”

Jake recently revealed a very personal detail about one of his celeb friends.
