A new Naked Gun reboot is moving forward, with Liam Neeson in negotiations to star and Akiva Schaffer set to direct.

The original Naked Gun series featured the mishaps of officer Frank Drebin, made famous by Leslie Nielsen. Liam would reportedly be playing the son of Detective Frank Drebin instead of stepping into the original role played by Leslie Nielsen, according to Deadline.

Leslie Nielsen passed away in 2010 after being admitted to a hospital with pneumonia. Over three films, he turned the lovable character into one of Hollywood’s classic slapstick comedy franchises. The first film was based on the 1982 ABC series Police Squad!

Liam Neeson‘s most recent film, Marlowe, will be released on December 2, 2022. He co-stars in the film with Diane Kruger and plays a private eye set in 1930s Los Angeles.

The Lonely Island wrote a hilarious song for the 2018 Oscars but it didn’t make it to the show!

The trio – Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer – pitched a song title “Why Not Me” but were told it was “financially and logistically impossible.”

Thankfully, the group is releasing the song away!

The ode to Blockbuster movies as well as critically panned projects would have featured appearances from Chris Hemsworth, Gal Gadot and the clown from Pennywise, among many others.

On Andy being the breakout star of the trio: “Nobody was ever mad about it. We understand the way it works — the way that certain ­opportunities sometimes get given to the person who’s in front…It never created a rift between us….”

On their songs becoming hits: “When one of our songs is a hit, it actually makes it a little funnier…’I'm on a Boat’ is two-times platinum — that’s hilarious.”

On Judd Apatow going full frontal in Popstar: “It’s actually his d*ck in the window of the car…He wanted to show it because he was like, ‘I’ve had this normal but really well-proportioned d*ck my whole life, and I’ve never shown it. And I’m afraid I’m getting older and going to lose the bod soon.’ ”

Andy Samberg suits up to hit the red carpet alongside his The Lonely Island bandmates and co-stars Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone at the premiere of their film Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping held at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13 Theater on Tuesday (May 24) in New York City.

The three actors were joined by their spouses Joanna Newsom, Liz Cackowski and Marielle Heller, as well as Seth Meyers and his brother Josh, Maya Rudolph, Michael Bolton, Keegan-Michael Key, Questlove and Paul Scheer.

Adriana Lima shows off legs for days while walking the red carpet at the 2016 Billboard Latin Music Awards held on Thursday (April 28) at the Bank United Center in Miami, Fla.

The 34-year-old model took to her Instagram to share a photo of herself with Andy Samberg backstage.

“I found the only gringo at the @LatinBillboards @thelonelyisland 😂😂😂 #Billboards2016,” Adriana captioned the pic. A gringo is a non-Hispanic person and usually refers to Americans.

Other stars at the event included Andy‘s The Lonely Island group members Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer, Juanes, and Marc Anthony with wife Shannon De Lima.

Tegan and Sara hit the stage to perform “Everything is Awesome” at the 2015 Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (February 22) in Hollywood.

The duo were joined by The Lonely Island, which consists of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer. The song was written by Shawn Patterson and is nominated tonight among a few other songs.
