Andra Day and Garrett Hedlund are hard at work on their new movie!

The 34-year-old singer and 35-year-old actor spent the afternoon filming The United States vs. Billie Holiday on Saturday (November 30) in Montreal, Canada.

Andra is playing the legendary jazz singer Billie Holiday while Garrett is portraying Harry J. Anslinger, the first commissioner of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics.

The film follows Billie Holiday “during her career as she is targeted by the Federal Department of Narcotics with an undercover sting operation led by black Federal Agent Jimmy Fletcher, with whom she had a tumultuous affair. The pic will intimately examine Holiday’s struggles with addiction, fame and heartbreaking love,” Deadline reports.

The United States vs. Billie Holiday is being directed by Lee Daniels and will also star Trevante Rhodes, Natasha Lyonne, and Evan Ross.

Aretha Franklin is being honored in a major spectacle called Aretha! A Grammy Celebration for the Queen of Soul on Sunday night (March 10) at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.

The star-studded concert will be hosted by Tyler Perry, and will feature appearances by Angela Bassett, Courtney B. Vance, Clive Davis and Smokey Robinson.

The evening will also include performances by superstars like Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson, Janelle Monae and Jennifer Hudson.

The legendary Queen of Soul died at the age of 76 in August of 2018.

Yolanda Adams, Fantasia Barrino, and Andra Day team up to honor Aretha Franklin at the 2019 Grammy Awards!

The 57-year-old gospel singer, the 34-year-old “Lose to Win” crooner, and the 34-year-old “Stand Up for Something” singer took the stage at the event held on Sunday (February 10) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The trio performed the late Queen of Soul’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” receiving a standing ovation.

Aretha passed away last August at age 76 after a battle with cancer.

Andra Day is throwing it back!

The 34-year-old entertainer looked sixties chic on the red carpet at the 2019 Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 10) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Later this evening, Andra is expected to take the stage at the Grammys. You can take a look at the full list of performers and presenters if you missed it.

Zoe Kravitz and KiKi Layne both look gorgeous while appearing on the red carpet at the 2018 LACMA Art + Film Gala presented by Gucci on Saturday night (November 3) at LACMA in Los Angeles.

Zoe is currently promoting her new movie Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald while KiKi is breaking on the scene with her performance in If Beale Street Could Talk.

Some more stars at the event included St. Vincent and Andra Day, who walked the carpet with director Lee Daniels.

Andra Day is one of the many stars who put their own spin on a Hamilton song for The Hamilton Mixtape album, and now she has dropped a music video for her track!

The 33-year-old singer recorded an emotional new visual for the showstopper song “Burn” and you can watch it now.

The video was directed by Aurora Guerro, who was recommended to Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda by award-winning filmmaker Ava Duvernay.

This is the latest Hamildrop and Lin-Manuel is dropping something new every month for the rest of the year!

Andra Day may be starring as the late singer Billie Holiday in an upcoming biopic to be directed by Lee Daniels!

Nothing has yet been finalized yet, but Andra is the top choice to play the role with Get Out‘s Lakeith Stanfield in talks for the male lead.

A studio is not yet attached to the film, but production will hopefully begin by the end of the year. Daniels will work on the project while on a hiatus from Fox’s Empire, according to Variety.
