Angelina Jolie Has Important Advice for Women Who Fear Being Abused During Holiday Season

Angelina Jolie is working with the United Nations to provide support for women around the world who fear being abused over the holidays.

The 45-year-old Oscar-winning actress, who is the Special Envoy of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, spoke to Harper’s Bazaar U.K. about UN Women’s 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.

Here is the advice that Angelina had for women who fear they will suffer abuse during the holiday season.

“Talk to someone. Try to find allies. Be connected for emergencies. For example, you can agree a code word with a friend or family member, which tells them if you are facing an emergency,” Angelina said. “Begin to build a network and gain knowledge. It’s sad to say, but you can’t assume all friends and family will always want to believe and support you. Often it will be strangers who help. Or other victims, support groups, or faith groups. Above all, be careful. Only you really know the danger you are in, and until you find your support outside, you may feel quite alone.”

Wondering how you can support a friend who you think might be experiencing abuse?

Angelina said, “If it has even crossed your mind that someone you know might be vulnerable in this way, try to stay close and present in their lives. Make it clear that you are there for them. Another thing we can all do is educate ourselves. Learn about domestic violence. Learn how trauma affects our health and can lead to biological changes, particularly in children. Take these issues seriously.”

Angelina Jolie Is Trending Because People Remembered Trump Supporter Jon Voight Is Her Father

Have you noticed that Angelina Jolie is trending on Twitter right now? Well, it’s not because of anything she’s done… it’s all about her family.

The Oscar-winning actress became a trending topic on Saturday (November 28) when people remembered that her father is actor Jon Voight, who just shared new comments about his support for President Trump.

“We’re heading down a street that has no name now. We must not allow our nation to crumble. Let me warn you all that we are in great danger if we fall under a Biden administration,” Voight said in a new video released to social media.

He also said in the video, “Let the truth show itself that President Trump is the only man that can save this nation.” Some people are interpreting his video as a call for Civil War.

Fans are now sending their sympathy to Angelina for having a father who would share this kind of rhetoric. Some are saying that she “deserved far better for a father” than Jon Voight.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night (November 23), Emma looked back at that fun night.

“I went with my mom. That was my first time going to the Golden Globes. It was very, very, very exciting so I took my mom with me. We sat next to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt,” she said. “We were like, ‘Of all people to be sitting next to at that kind of a show, whoa.’ And my mom never drinks and she had champagne that night, which was probably not the best idea, but she was having a wonderful time.”

“[My mom] started asking Angelina Jolie like, ‘Do you have kids?’ And I was like, ‘You’ve gotta be out [of your mind].’ She completely knew, but she was making small talk. ‘How old are they? What are their names?’ She knew everything. But they were so nice. We had a blast. That was a very fun night,” Emma said.

Angelina Jolie Lines Up Her Next Directing Project: 'Unreasonable Behaviour'

Angelina Jolie has lined up her next directing project and it looks to be a great one!

The actress, director and humanitarian will take on Unreasonable Behaviour, a movie about legendary war photographer Don McCullin. The film is being produced by Tom Hardy and Dean Baker.

According to Deadline, the biopic is an “unflinching account of the celebrated British war photographer’s life, which took him from poverty-stricken, wartime London to some of the world’s most dangerous war zones.”

“I am humbled to have a chance to bring Don McCullin’s life to film,” Angelina said in a statement. “I was drawn to his unique combination of fearlessness and humanity – his absolute commitment to witnessing the truth of war, and his empathy and respect for those who suffer its consequences. We hope to make a film that is as uncompromising as Don’s photography, about the extraordinary people and events he witnessed, and the rise and fall of a unique era in journalism.”

Don himself said, “Having viewed Angelina’s last film on Cambodia (and having spent so much time during the war there) I was very impressed at how she made such a powerful and accurate representation of the place at that time. I feel as if I am in safe, capable and professional hands with her.“

Meanwhile, if you missed it, the director of Angelina‘s newest movie has something to say.

Angelina Jolie Loses Bid to Remove Judge from Brad Pitt Divorce Case

Angelina Jolie was trying to get the judge from her divorce case removed due to his alleged business relationship with ex-husband Brad Pitt‘s attorneys, but she has lost the bid.

The Superior Court of California in Orange County ruled that “Judge Ouderkirk is not disqualified from serving as a temporary judge in this case. There, the State of Disqualification is DENIED.”

The legal documents were revealed by DailyMail.com.

Angelina filed a motion that claimed the judge “failed to disclose the cases that demonstrated the current, ongoing, repeat-customer relationship between the judge and Respondent’s counsel.”

It was later revealed that Angelina and Brad have actually known the judge for many years and he was the one who married them in 2014. He was one of the very few people to attend their wedding.

The Director For Angelina Jolie's New Movie 'Come Away' Is Blasting Review Bombers of the Film

Angelina Jolie‘s upcoming movie, Come Away, is breaking a lot of boundaries as it’s a flick based on fairytales that historically have white-only leads.

However, the new movie, which imagines Peter Pan and Alice (of Wonderland) as siblings, and are part of a multi-racial family. Angelina and David Oyelowo star as their parents.

Brenda Chapman, known for directing Pixar’s Brave, is putting critics and review bombers on blast for the negative words they have left about the flick without even seeing it.

“It just made me sad, like so much of our society these days, the last four years,” she told IndieWire during a recent interview. “It just makes me sad that we haven’t risen above all this.”

Brenda added, “People are people and we all have our hopes and dreams and disappointments, and to have someone just purposely go out because they’re racial bigots to destroy something, it’s just hateful and it just makes me sad.”

She also pointed out that when they were first casting the project, her eyes did skim by David‘s name because of the historically white context. But then, she had the opportunity to do something not a lot of others have done and cast color blindly.

“I was disappointed, oh, it’s too bad, I’d love to work with him, and I moved on and then I sort of went back to his name like, wait a minute, why not?,” Brenda said. “And then, going through the story in my mind, it was like, I don’t need to change anything. It would open up the story so much more.”

She added, “I didn’t choose David for political reasons, I chose him because I thought he was the best person to play Jack, because he’s got such a warmth and a presence on screen that it just felt like I looked at the story and I thought this would just add so much depth to it. It was an artistic choice.”

Come Away just got an official premiere date and a whimsical and heartbreaking new trailer. Watch it here…
