Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is here, kicking off the fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a trip to the mysterious Quantum Realm. Some fans might be surprised to learn that the movie, especially it’s mid- and end-credits scenes, laid the groundwork for the upcoming second season of Loki on Disney+.

The third movie in the Ant-Man and the Wasp franchise has been released and there are some fan-favorite stars missing from the movie, as well as some unexpected cameos.
We counted five actors who are not in Quantumania, though one of them actually does appear in the film in a different role.
In the new movie, super Heroes Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and The Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is currently playing in theaters and there’s a new actress playing the role of Cassie Lang, the daughter of Paul Rudd‘s character Scott Lang.
So, why was there a casting change?

The stars of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania are taking over London!
Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and more walked the red carpet for a gala screening on Thursday night (February 16) at the BFI IMAX in London, England.
Also in attendance were Michael Douglas (with wife Catherine Zeta-Jones), Jonathan Majors and Kathryn Newton, as well as director Peyton Reed.
There’s a popular Ant-Man star who is missing from the new movie, which is now in theaters.

Back in December 2020, it was announced that Kathryn Newton would be taking on the role of Cassie Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Days later, Emma Fuhrmann, the actress who played the role in 2019′s Avengers: Endgame, spoke out with her thoughts on being replaced for the upcoming movie.
Emma played the role of Scott Lang’s daughter in the flash forward in Avengers: Endgame, marking the second actress to play the role.
In her comments, Emma gracefully acknowledged the casting change.

Fans checking out Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in theaters this weekend might be surprised to see that franchise star Michael Pena is not in the movie.
The 47-year-old actor plays Scott Lang’s former cellmate Luis in 2015′s Ant-Man and the 2018 sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Quantumania director Peyton Reed explained Luis’ absence from the movie in a new interview.
