Brec Bassinger has an exciting new role!

The 18-year-old Bella and the Bulldogs star will play the lead role in Warner Bros.’ upcoming series, Stargirl, Deadline reported on Thursday (September 20), which will be part of the new streaming site, DC Universe.

Geoff Johns, the show’s writer and executive producer, revealed that Brec was the perfect actor to play the role.

“There is no other character in comic books more special to me than Stargirl, and after searching far and wide I can say there is no other actor on the planet that embodies her more than Brec Bassinger,” he shared in a statement. “Brec’s warmth, strength, humor and positive energy are core to who Courtney Whitmore is. I’m so grateful she’s signed on for the role.”

Stargirl is described as “intelligent, athletic and, above all, kind.”

The show will center on Courtney’s high school experience, which is derailed when her mother marries and moves the household from Los Angeles to bucolic Blue Valley in distant Nebraska.

Struggling to adapt, Courtney discovers her stepfather has a secret past as a superhero sidekick. She also discovers an artifact of immense power, a long-lost hero’s cosmic staff, and Courtney becomes the unlikely inspiration for an entirely new generation of superheroes.

Skylan Brooks, Mandy Moore, Miya Cech, and Amandla Stenberg team up for a screening of their new movie The Darkest Minds!

The co-stars stepped out for the event held at ArcLight Hollywood on Thursday (July 26) in Hollywood.

They were joined by their other castmates Mark O’Brien, Wallace Langham, Golden Brooks, Peyton Wich, Lidya Jewett, Sammi Rotibi, McCarrie McCausland, director Jennifer Yuh Nelson, and Alexandra Bracken, who wrote the novel the film is based on.

Mandy‘s This Is Us co-stars Mackenzie Hancsicsak and Lonnie Chavis also stepped out to show their support, as well as Chloe Lukasiak, Aliyah Moulden, Brec Bassinger, and her boyfriend Dylan Summerall.

In The Darkest Minds, imprisoned by an adult world that now fears everyone under 18, a group of teens form a resistance group to fight back and reclaim control of their future. Watch the trailer here, and don’t miss it when it hits theaters on August 3!

Kendall Jenner stepped out to support her fellow model Cara Delevingne at the premiere of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets!

The 21-year-old Keeping Up with the Kardashians star showed off her long legs in a strapless black mini dress at TCL Chinese Theatre on Monday night (July 17) in Hollywood.

Cara, meanwhile, sported a sheer silver dress with a halter neck, styling her hair into waves that gave off an Old Hollywood vibe.

They were joined by Cara‘s co-star Dane DeHaan and his wife Anna Wood.

Also in attendance were Cara‘s sister Poppy Delevingne, Kat Graham, Skai Jackson, Sasha Lane, Jeremy Scott, Connor Franta, Stefanie Scott, Brec Bassinger, and Jordyn Jones.

In the sci-fi film, Cara plays a special operative who goes undercover while on a mission to protect Alpha, a city that is home to species from a 1,000 planets.
