Holly Holm Responds to Ronda Rousey's Suicide Comments

Holly Holm, the UFC fighter who knocked out Ronda Rousey last year in a shocking defeat, is now responding to the comments that she was suicidal after the loss.

“There’s a lot of things around that. When I heard that she said that, for me it’s one of those things it’s like, ‘How do I respond to that?’” the 34-year-old fighter said (via TMZ). “I don’t want to say I’m sorry because I think on a competitive level for me, if somebody was to say they’re sorry after [beating me], it’s like, ‘No, I’m a competitor.’ I’m not a charity case.”

“I don’t want to say that I’m glad that she felt that way and I don’t want to say, ‘Oh I’m so sorry.’ It’s something I think that you have to dig through on your own. In the long run, she’ll be stronger mentally from it,” Holly added.

If you missed it, while appearing on The Ellen Show, Ronda talked about her suicidal thoughts post-fight.

“Ronda Rousey has gone undefeated, taken the sport to another level, and was beating the best women in the world in 14 seconds or 30 seconds, so she deserves a rematch,” Dana explained. “Holly agrees she deserves a rematch. And we’ll figure it out.”

“I don’t think it’s cool how everyone is trolling her on social media. Certain things you have to learn. People will love you on Friday and then Sunday morning, it’s nothing but negative comments and people making jokes and people making fun about you, which I don’t think is cool,” the 38-year-old boxer told FightHype.

Floyd later added, that although he doesn’t really know what it feels like to lose, fans should be more considerate about how they treat fighters.

“I think that everything is just a learning experience. In due time, she’ll be able to bounce back and make some noise again in mixed martial arts,” Floyd added.
