The new Broadway musical The Heart of Rock and Roll celebrated its upcoming opening night with a special gala performance!

Lead actors Corey Cott and McKenzie Kurtz posed together on the red carpet at the gala celebration on Friday (April 19) at the James Earl Jones Theatre in New York City.

They were joined by co-stars Josh Breckenridge, F. Michael Haynie, Zoe Jensen, Tamika Lawrence, Raymond J. Lee, John-Michael Lyles, Orville Mendoza, and Billy Harrigan Tighe.

The Heart of Rock and Roll is a new musical inspired by the songs of Huey Lewis and the News. Set in 1987 , the story centers on a couple of twenty-somethings on the cusp of their futures—Bobby (Cott), a rock and roller who’s traded his guitar for the corporate ladder and his boss Cassandra (Kurtz) who’s always put the family business first. When they both get a second shot at their dreams, it’ll take “The Power of Love” and a little help from their friends — to figure out what kind of life they really want.

Huey Lewis was at the event as well alongside special guests Cyndi Lauper and Jimmy Kimmel.

Huey Lewis and the News will no longer tour for the rest of the year after frontman Huey Lewis announced that he is suffering from hearing loss.

The 67-year-old performer revealed that the hearing loss began two and a half months ago and he is having trouble hearing music.

“Two and a half months ago, just before a show in Dallas, I lost most of my hearing. Although I can still hear a little, one on one, and on the phone, I can’t hear music well enough to sing. I can’t hear music well enough to sing. The lower frequencies distort violently making it impossible to find pitch,” Huey said in his statement.

Lewis revealed that he has visited several experts while trying to find an answer and doctors believe he has Meniere’s disease and can’t perform again until he improves.

“Therefore the only prudent thing to do is cancel all future shows,” Lewis wrote. “Needless to say, I feel horrible about this and wish to sincerely apologize to all the fans who’ve already bought tickets and were planning to come see us. I’m going to concentrate on getting better, and hope that one day soon I’ll be able to perform again.”

Michael J. Fox makes his grand entrance at the special anniversary screening of his classic film Back To The Future held at AMC Loews Lincoln Square on Wednesday night (October 21) in New York City.

The 54-year-old actor was joined on the carpet by his wife, Tracy Pollan, as well as his co-stars Lea Thompson, Christopher Lloyd, and Huey Lewis.

In case you’re not familiar, this day celebrates the 1989 sequel where Marty McFly (Fox) travels to the “future” October 21st, 2015 to save his children.

Lea‘s actress daughter Zoey Deutch was also in attendance.
