John Boyega & Kelly Marie Tran Reunite at 'Star Wars' Premiere After He Apologized for Comments

John Boyega and Kelly Marie Tran are clearly on good terms despite the headlines last week over comments he made about her exit from social media.

The co-stars walked the red carpet together at the world premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on Monday night (December 16) in Hollywood.

Last week, John publicly apologized to Kelly after he made what he referred to as “badly worded” comments about his friend. While discussing the downfalls of social media, John referenced Kelly‘s exit from social media due to bullying and he said that some people are
“weak to believe in every single thing that you read.”

John Boyega Issues Apology for 'Badly Worded' Statements Towards 'Star Wars' Co-Star

John Boyega has issued a apology after he made some comments that fans took to be a dig at his Star Wars co-star Kelly Marie Tran.

If you missed it, Kelly Marie Tran quit social media in June of 2018 after being harassed.

John was then asked in a new interview by Variety, “There’s a sort of double edged sword there. You can get really great engagement. But then there’s what happened with Kelly [Marie Tran] about the small subset people who are very vocal and very negative, and having to navigate that.”

John responded, “Through social media, we get to engage, we get to have fun. But at the same time, for those who are not mentally strong, you are weak to believe in every single thing that you read. That’s, you know, it is what it is. I don’t know, for me anyway, when I see that [backlash], I’m like, well, that’s actually not true. But no, it is actually not true.”

After he said this, people thought John was referring to Kelly as “weak to believe in every single thing that you read.”

On Thursday (December 12), John posted a series of tweets apologizing.

“In no way was I referring to Kelly when I made my comments although the interviewer mentioned her given the topic. I was really speaking from my own perspective throughout this franchise. Sometimes I’ve felt strong and sometimes I’ve felt weak. Badly worded though. I apologize,” he wrote. “My comments on Kelly specifically and online harassment remains the same via a tweet I put out a few years ago.”

Daisy Ridley & Oscar Isaac Celebrate 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' in Tokyo!

Daisy Ridley keeps it chic and sophisticated while striking a pose at the press conference for her anticipated film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker held at Toho Cinemas Roppongi on Thursday (December 12) in Tokyo, Japan.

The 27-year-old actress was joined at the event by her co-stars Oscar Isaac, John Boyega and Anthony Daniels, as well as Star Wars characters R2-D2, BB-8 and D-O, producer Katherine Kennedy, screenwriter Chris Terrio and writer-director J.J. Abrams.

“I will only add that when I called Chris about doing this — and you were such a big Star Wars fan, which I had been told — I was such a fan of Chris’ screenplays, and Argo I thought was so beautifully written,” J.J. expressed about working with Chris on the screenplay. “I needed to have someone writing this with me who from the very beginning reminded me of how much Star Wars meant who hadn’t been in it in a way I had.”

“I said at the very beginning,” Abrams recalled, “‘you’re going to be with me this entire time, to the very end.’ And Chris being the humble man he is, made a self-deprecating joke about me not wanting him around by the end. We were together [in the trenches], kicking every tire, shaking every tree to make the story as good as we could and I can’t tell you how grateful I am for this gentleman’s partnership.”
