John Wick: Chapter Four, the fourth installment of Keanu Reeves‘ fan favorite film franchise, has just announced a big release date change.
Originally, the film was set to go up against Tom Cruise‘s long awaited Top Gun: Maverick on May 27, 2022. However, John Wick just moved out of Memorial Day weekend 2022.

The fourth John Wick movie hasn’t even been made yet, but Lionsgate has already confirmed a John Wick 5 will happen!
The studio just announced that the two upcoming sequels will be shot back-to-back once star Keanu Reeves is available to make them.
The John Wick film series is one of the rare franchises to grow in popularity. The first movie grossed $43 million in its domestic release, the second one made $92 million, and the third film grew to a gross of $171 million. The worldwide grosses had a similar trajectory.
“We’re also busy preparing scripts for the next two installments of our John Wick action franchise, with John Wick 4 slated to hit theatres Memorial Day weekend 2022. We hope to shoot both John Wick 4 & 5 back to back when Keanu becomes available early next year,” the studio’s CEO John Feltheimer said (via Deadline).
John Wick 4 is currently scheduled to be released on May 27, 2022.
In the meantime, Keanu is currently working on a different sequel and another one is being released next month.
Chad Stahelski has revealed some new information about the upcoming John Wick 4.
In a recent interview, the director shared that the upcoming fourth movie will feature cut scenes from Parabellum, which was the third movie in the franchise.
“We had a couple of overlapping thematics, and I stripped it down to the bare essentials,” Chad shared via CinemaBlend. “There were two action sequences that we had really kind of conceived, but we just didn’t have room for them. So, we pulled them from the movie.”
He added that “I’d like to think that 90 percent of what I pulled, there’s a place in John Wick 4 that I can definitely reinsert them.”
At the moment, John Wick 4 is set to hit theaters in 2022.

John Wick 4, Spiral, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar and more movies from Lionsgate have been moved on the release schedule.
Variety reports that John Wick 4, starring Keanu Reeves, has been moved back to May 27, 2022, a year later than expected.
Spiral is a reboot from the Saw franchise with Chris Rock and Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar stars Kristen Wiig.
Other movies that are moving back on the schedule include Antebellum, Voyagers, American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story and The Asset.
