Kristin Kreuk is returning to the small screen and heading back to the CW!

The 29-year-old actress, who previously appeared in Smallville, has landed the female lead in the network’s drama pilot Beauty and the Beast, according to Deadline.

The show “centers on Catherine (Kreuk), a tough-minded NYPD Homicide Detective haunted by witnessing her mother’s murder nine years ago and the killers’ quick demise at the hands of a Beast. After years of searching, Catherine finally finds the Beast, Vincent Koslow, the survivor of a military experiment that went disastrously wrong, and becomes the protector of his secret life as a bestial superhero.”

The 28-year-old actress braved the rainy weather with a pair of boots and an umbrella.

Kristin will guest star on the show as Susan Longstreet, the wife of crime scene expert Caolan played by Jamie Bamber.

Kristin also recently responded to fan criticism after saying she “probably” wouldn’t watch the Smallville series finale.

“There is no personal reason why I am not watching Smallville weekly. Honestly, I never really did,” she wrote on her Facebook page. “I know people want to make it a drama … but there is really no drama.”

The 28-year-old actress hit the stage during the ceremony with Star Trek actor Bruce Greenwood.

Kristin, who’ll be guest starring in the NBC pilot 17th Precinct, recently shared she won’t be tuning in for the Smallville series finale.

“I probably won’t watch it. Maybe later on – like, on DVD or something,” Kristin, who played Lana on the popular CW series, told HollywoodLife.com.

“I don’t watch the show anymore,” she said. “I’m super excited for them, and I think they’re amazing, but I’ll probably see it after it airs at some point.”

Kristin Kreuk will guest star in 17th Precinct, a new NBC pilot – and if the show gets picked up, she may land a recurring role!

Here’s a rundown of the show from TVLine: “Set in the fictional town of Excelsior, where magic and supernatural elements rule over science, 17th Precinct revolves around the lawmen at the local cop shop. In addition to [Jamie] Bamber, the cast features two other Battlestar Galactica regulars: James Callis (playing a homicide detective) and Tricia Helfer (as Morgana the necromancer aka the magical equivalent of a coroner).”

In other Kristin news, viewers will be able to watch the Smallville pilot again when The CW airs it on April 8!

The 28-year-old actress can next be seen on the small screen again when The CW re-airs the Smallville pilot on April 8 at 8 p.m.!

The episode, which first aired back in October 2001, “features the crash-landing of Kal-El in Smallville, before jumping ahead 12 years to a teenaged Clark Kent (Tom Welling) saving a reckless Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) in a car accident, kicking off their iconic friendship-turned-rivalry-to-be,” according to TV Guide.

Kristin Kreuk comes out to support LA Dogworks‘ 2nd Annual “Night of Emotion” Benefit on Thursday (February 3) at LA Dogworks in Los Angeles.

The 28-year-old Smallville actress joined celebs, including True Blood‘s Carrie Preston who came with her husband, Lost‘s Michael Emerson, at the event which raised awareness for the organization A Dog’s Life Rescue.

Last month, Kristin hit the 2011 Sundance Film Festival to promote her new film, Vampire.

Kristin and co-star Rachael Leigh Cook premiered the flick and celebrated with a cast and crew dinner party.
