Lady A Arrives at ACM Awards 2021 to Perform 'Like a Lady'

Lady A is mixing things up for the 2021 ACM Awards performance!

Instead of performing inside one of the venues for the awards show airing on Sunday (April 18), the country music band decided to take things outside, performing on a waterfront stage at the Bridge Building in Nashville, Tenn.

For their performance, Lady A – consisting of members Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood – performed their latest single “Like a Lady.”

In a recent interview, Lady A, which was formerly known as Lady Antebellum, explained why it took so long for them to change the band’s name.

Lady A was only up for one award this year, Group of the Year. They ended up losing to Old Dominion.

Lady A Members Talk Name Change, Explain Why It Took So Long

The members of the group Lady A, which was formerly known as Lady Antebellum, are speaking out about the name change and why it took so long to drop “antebellum.”

Hillary Scott, Dave Haywood, and Charles Kelley made an appearance on The Tamron Hall Show on Monday (December 21) and they discussed the name change, six months after they decided to do it.

“The heart of our decision still rings true today as much as it did back in June when we made this announcement,” Hillary said. “I mean, we want our music, and our live shows and, you know, anything that we’re a part of, for everyone to feel welcome and invited. And we realized, you know, over the summer I think not touring and watching just this movement happen that is so needed in this country and around the world, we started to see what our part was, what part of our first steps and making a difference could be. And so our name changing was the first step…but you never know how things are going to happen and we never saw that coming.”

The Band Lady A Files Lawsuit Against 'Lady A' Singer Anita White

Lady A, the band formerly known as Lady Antebellum, is filing a lawsuit against Anita White, also known as Lady A.

The “Need You Now” trio is suing the blues singer in Nashville’s U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee due to her alleged attempt to “enforce purported trademark rights in a mark that Plaintiffs have held for more than a decade,” according to Billboard on Wednesday (July 8).

The lawsuit claims that conversations broke down between the band and the singer and their respective attorneys, and that her new counsel “delivered a draft settlement agreement that included an exorbitant monetary demand.” In a statement from the band, the amount is reportedly $10 million.

The band is not asking for money in the suit, only a court declaration that the trio is lawfully using the Lady A trademark and that its does not infringe on any rights Anita may have under state or federal law.

Lady Antebellum Reaches Out to Singer Lady A After Changing Their Name to 'Lady A'

Country group Lady Antebellum rebranded themselves as “Lady A,” removing the word “Antebellum” from their name, amid the Black Lives Matter and police brutality protests sweeping the nation.

After changing their name, singer Anita White came forward – she had been performing under the name “Lady A” for decades.

It looks like Lady Antebellum reached out to Lady A to have a discussion about the use of the name.

“Today, we connected privately with the artist Lady A. Transparent, honest, and authentic conversations were had. We are excited to share we are moving forward with positive solutions and common ground. The hurt is turning into hope. More to come,” the band wrote on Instagram.
