Laverne Cox and Paris Hilton both look so glamorous on the red carpet at the 2020 American Music Awards, which is airing on Sunday (November 22) and taking place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The highly anticipated movie Promising Young Woman was supposed to be released in theaters back in April and now the film has finally been given a new release date!

The new film, starring Carey Mulligan, will hit theaters on Christmas Day, December 25, 2020.

Here is the film’s synopsis: Everyone said Cassie (Mulligan) was a promising young woman… until a mysterious event abruptly derailed her future. But nothing in Cassie’s life is what it appears to be: she’s wickedly smart, tantalizingly cunning, and she’s living a secret double life by night. Now, an unexpected encounter is about to give Cassie a chance to right the wrongs of the past in this thrilling and wildly entertaining story.

Promising Young Woman was written and directed by Emerald Fennell, who was the showrunner for season two of Killing Eve.

Starring alongside Carey are Bo Burnham, Laverne Cox, Alison Brie, Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Max Greenfield, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chris Lowell, Sam Richardson, Molly Shannon, and Clancy Brown.

Laverne Cox was censored at the 2020 Emmy Awards.

The Orange is the New Black actress took to the stage during the virtual ceremony on Sunday (September 20) to present the award for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series.

“Good evening everyone,” Laverne started. “I am living proof of the American dream that anyone in this country can lose the Emmy four years in the same category and yet somehow end up on this stage presenting an award to someone who probably didn’t …”

At that point, Laverne‘s mic was cut off and viewers missed a few seconds of what she was saying.

“What happens to an American dream deferred?” Laverne then continued. “Does it shrivel up like a raisin in the sun? Stick to the script Laverne, stick to the script. And now here are the nominees for Writing in a Drama Series.”

Despite not being presented live, the Television Academy released the clip of Laverne‘s presentation, revealing what she said in those few seconds.

According to their footage – which you can see below – Laverne said “presenting an award to someone who probably didn’t effing vote for me.”

Laverne literally said “effing” – she didn’t actually use the curse word. As of right now, it’s unclear why the sound was cut from her speech for that brief moment.

A new trailer that is getting so much buzz is the upcoming Hulu movie Bad Hair!

The film is a horror satire set in 1989 and it follows an ambitious young woman (Elle Lorraine) who gets a weave in order to succeed in the image-obsessed world of music television. However, her flourishing career comes at a great cost when she realizes that her new hair may have a mind of its own.

The star-studded cast also includes Vanessa Williams, Lena Waithe, Laverne Cox, Jay Pharoah, Kelly Rowland, Blair Underwood, James Van Der Beek, Yaani King Mondschein, and Usher.

Bad Hair was written and directed by Justin Simien, who previously wrote and directed the movie Dear White People and the TV series of the same name.

The movie will be released on Hulu on October 23.

Leslie Jones hosted the virtual announcement for the 2020 Emmy Award Nominations this morning, with Laverne Cox, Josh Gad, Tatiana Maslany and Television Academy CEO Frank Scherma joining her by Zoom calls.

However, when the 52-year-old actress and comedian tried to reveal to Laverne that she was nominated for an Emmy, it didn’t go over as planned.

As Leslie tries to announce it, she gets a little confused on what Laverne is actually nominated for. First, she mentioned Best Drama Series, before then saying Best Actress, then to Guest Actress.

“I was supposed to do that way smoother,” Leslie told Laverne afterwards, and Laverne was still confused about the announcement.

Laverne picked up a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Orange is the New Black.

Laverne Cox happily strikes a pose with Laura Harrier while supporting her at the special Tastemaker screening and reception for her upcoming series Hollywood held at San Vicente Bungalows on Sunday (February 23) in West Hollywood, Calif.

Laura, 29, was joined at the event by her co-stars Maude Apatow, Jake Picking, Dylan McDermott, Michelle Krusiec, David Corenswet, Jeremy Pope and Mira Sorvino, as well as co-creator and executive producer Ian Brennan.

Laverne, 47, was in attendance in support alongside Rumer Willis, Maude‘s father Judd Apatow, Harry Hamlin and his wife Lisa Rinna, Zelda Williams and Janet Mock, who introduced the first screening of Hollywood to the crowd.

Here’s a synopsis: “Hollywood follows a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers in post-World War II Hollywood as they try to make it in Tinseltown — no matter the cost. Laverne Cox makes a grand entrance in her orange gown at the InStyle And Warner Bros. Golden Globe Awards Post-Party on Sunday (January 5) at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 47-year-old actress’ dress was so large that she actually was able to fit three friends inside of the skirt!

Laverne shared a cute video from the InStyle party’s elevator photo booth in which Sarah Hyland, Jamie Chung, and Ashley Madekwe all emerged from underneath the dress.

“Wait for it… … Thank you @sarahhyland @jamiejchung and @smashleybell for joining in me in the elevator,” Laverne captioned the clip.

Sarah was joined on the carpet by fiance Wells Adams, Jamie attended with husband Bryan Greenberg, and Ashley walked the carpet with husband Iddo Goldberg.
