Mark Wahlberg on 'Patriots Day': 'It Was More Pressure Than I've Ever Felt'

Mark Wahlberg and Kevin Bacon strike a pose while attending a special screening and Q&A for their film Patriots Day held at Lotos Club on Monday (November 21) in New York City.

The actors were joined by the movie’s director Peter Berg as well as producers Michael Radutzky and Scott Stuber, writer Terence Winter, police detective Bo Dietl, and police officer Raymond Kelly.

Earlier that day, Mark and Peter stopped by CBS This Morning to discuss the sensitive subject matter of the film, which focuses on the Boston Marathon bombings and their aftermath.

“We felt like it was very important to do this, but do it right,” Mark said. “And of course, me being from Boston, and knowing that I would be held accountable personally, it was a lot of pressure, certainly more pressure than I’ve ever felt.”

“Everybody knows somebody who was directly affected by this,” Mark added. “It’s such a small community. So, yeah, I felt an enormous amount of pressure, but I knew, based on my work experience with Pete, that he was the right guy for the job because of how much he cares.”

Patriots Day hits select theaters on December 21 and will be released nationally on January 13, 2017 – watch the trailer here!
