The annual event draws distinguished artists from throughout the entertainment industry who join forces in an extreme theatre endeavor: writing, directing and performing six original short plays from the ground up in 24 hours. Proceeds from the performance support New York’s Urban Arts Partnership in its efforts to close the achievement gap in NYC’s underserved public schools.

Serena Williams shows a bit of midriff while stepping out to host the 2015 Delta Open Mic held at Arena on Wednesday night (August 26) in New York City.

The 33-year-old tennis pro was joined on the carpet by Laverne Cox, Uzo Aduba, Jason Biggs, Ali Larter, Alan Cumming, Saturday Night Live‘s Jay Pharoah, and former View host Rosie Perez.

During the event, Serena hit the stage for a fun rendition of “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid.

It has just been announced that Rosie Perez will be leaving The View.

The 50-year-old TV personality and actress’ last appearance on the show will be on Thursday, August 6, which is also the last episode of the season.

Raven Symone, who just joined the show in June, and Whoopi Goldberg are set to return next season, but the future of Nicolle Wallace is still currently unknown.

Back in January, ABC shot down the rumors that Rosie was leaving the show by saying, “Rosie Perez is currently in rehearsal for her Broadway play for the month of January. Her status with the show has not changed.”

It looks like The View may have more changes ahead.

According to Variety, ABC is planning to reboot the show again for the fall, which may include changing up the panel once more.

Whoopi Goldberg and Raven Symone will reportedly stay, but the futures of their co-hosts Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez remain to be seen.

Apparently, the network has been unimpressed by their contributions to the show, and executives have been under pressure to rescue it from a ratings decline that began with Barbara Walters‘ retirement back in May 2014.

The View has averaged about 2.48 million viewers this past season, which is 16% lower than last year. There are some names on a short list of a possible rotating panel, including stylist Stacy London and model Molly Sims.
