America Ferrera has announced that she will be leaving the NBC comedy series Superstore at the end of the current season.

The 35-year-old actress, who is currently pregnant with her second child, has starred on the show from day one and she has also directed several episodes of the series.

“The last five years on Superstore have been some of the most rewarding, enriching and enjoyable years of my career,” America said in a statement (via THR). “Producing, directing and acting with this wonderful cast and crew has given me opportunities to grow as a person and storyteller. I’m so grateful to my partners at NBC and Universal Television for the support and belief they have always placed in the show, and I’m most thankful to the brilliant Justin Spitzer for creating the funny, smart and relevant world of Superstore and inviting me to be a part of it. As I start the next chapter for my family and career, I wish only the best, and much continued success, to my beloved Superstore family.”

America is an executive producer on the new Netflix series Gentefied, which debuted last week.

The season five finale of Superstore will air on April 16.

America Ferrera and her co-star Ben Feldman happily got together while striking a pose at the 2019 Vulture Festival presented By AT&T at The Roosevelt Hotel on Saturday (November 9) in Hollywood.

The 35-year-old actress and the 39-year-old actor were joined at the event by Superstore castmates Lauren Ash, Nico Santos and Kaliko Kauahi as they talked about the hit NBC show’s success.

“The stuff that’s going on in the country, obviously being able to find ways to talk about that in a way that is still funny, that’s a dream,” Lauren said about Superstore tackling politics. “That’s the goal.”

“I think the important thing to remember is that this show wouldn’t exist and be successful if it wasn’t for the time we were making it in. We’re not starting these conversations,” America Ferrera added. “It’s like Lauren just said, laughter is recognition. We’re putting up a mirror to the conversations and the things people are just feeling in this time. The show is striking a chord that already exists in this time, and we’re at a point where all we can do is laugh.”

We’re getting more Superstore!

After premiering to high ratings, NBC has ordered four more episodes to season five of the hit NBC comedy series.

Season five of Superstore was originally going to have 18 episodes, but it will now have 22.

The show is NBC’s highest rated series on Thursdays and highest rated comedy series on the network.

Superstore stars America Ferrera, Ben Feldman, Mark McKinney, Lauren Ash, Colton Dunn, Nico Santos, Nichole Bloom, and Kaliko Kauahi.

You can watch new episodes of Superstore on NBC on Thursdays at 8pm ET.

The 35-year-old actress was joined at the event by her co-stars Mark McKinney, Lauren Ash, Ben Feldman, Nichole Bloom and Colton Dunn, as well as executive producer Justin Spitzer.

America Ferrera is ready to return to Ugly Betty!

While promoting her show Superstore at the 2019 Winter TCA Tour on Tuesday (January 29), the 34-year-old actress dished on a potential Ugly Betty reboot.

“No, there haven’t been more conversations about a reunion,” America said. “I love Betty and it would be so interesting to go back and try and play her again from where I am now and who I am now.”

Ugly Betty ran on ABC from 2006 to 2010.

Joining America at the TCA panel were her Superstore co-stars Laruen Ash, Nico Santos, Nichole Bloom, Ben Feldman, and Mark McKinney.

Superstore is coming back for more!

The NBC America Ferrera comedy is officially coming back for a fourth season consisting of 22 episodes, execs confirmed on Wednesday (February 21).

“Season 4 officially coming your way baby!!!!! Get ready for more @nbcsuperstore Wahoo!!!! #season4pickup 😘 @jsalke,” America wrote on her Instagram.

“Superstore is one of our signature NBC comedies, and we’re so pleased to be bringing it back for the 2018-19 season,” NBC exec Jennifer Salke said in a statement.

Superstore joins The Good Place and Will & Grace, as well as This Is Us, in shows that are being renewed for the 2018-2019 season on NBC.
