Koopsta Knicca Dead - Three 6 Mafia Rapper Dies at 40

Robert “Koopsta Knicca” Phillips has passed away at age 40 after suffering a stroke earlier this week.

The rapper, who was a member of Three 6 Mafia and Da Mafia 6ix, died on early Friday morning (October 9) at a Memphis hospital.

“[He] went in peace… Everyone who knew Koop knew he was very funny and the coolest guy ever. He will be missed. We made classics together that’ll live on,” group mate DJ Paul said in a statement to Commercial Appeal.

“Me and Koop had just started writing his new album Devil’s Playground 2… but we didn’t get a chance to record yet,” Paul added. “We had concerts coming up starting next month too. He also just got a home in Vegas that he was moving to on Tuesday, but never got to even see it in person.”

We send out our thoughts and condolences to Koop‘s loved ones during this difficult time.

Three 6 Mafia's Lord Infamous Dead at 40 After Heart Attack

Three 6 Mafia founding member Lord Infamous was found dead on Friday evening (December 20) in Memphis at the age of 40.

“He passed away in his sleep from a heart attack,” his half-brother and fellow group member DJ Paul, told The Hollywood Reporter. “He said he was tired, he wanted to sleep. He sat down at the kitchen table, put his head in his arms to lay down … to get some sleep.”

The rapper, whose real name was Ricky Dunigan, was found dead at the table in his mother’s house after she arrived home from running errands.

Three 6 Mafia famously won an Oscar for Best Original Song back in 2006 (without Lord Infamous) for their song “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” from the movie Hustle & Flow.

We send out our thoughts and condolences to Lord Infamous‘ family and friends during this difficult time.
