Elegant Australian mother-to-be Cate Blanchett arrives at the 2007 Sydney Theatre Awards at the Paddington RSL on Monday in Sydney, Australia. (She and director husband Andrew Upton recently took over as artistic directors for the Sydney Theatre Company.)
When Oscar nominations are announced tomorrow, Blanchett, 38, is expected to does pick up nominations for best actress for Elizabeth: The Golden Age and best supporting actress for I’m Not There.
Cate the Great is due in April.

I don’t know if I’m wrong, but I thought you couldn’t be nominated in two acting categories at the Oscars. They would have to pick one, most likely supporting actress.

she has such a lovely, sympatic husban
people, leave her husband alone. he seems very sweet and supportive of her. plus, he has a great career of his own so he’s no “kept man”. they seem happy and looks aren’t everything. no one is “hot” at 80 years old and they seem like they are going to be together for the long haul (so they may just make it to that age together)…unlike some gorgeous hollywood couples that last a few years tops.

I love Cate Blanchett, and I loved Elizabeth and I still need to see the sequel (loves those period movies). Anyway, I feel like so many of these directors are just lying in wait for the chance to date or marry the hot little starlets in their movies. It’s like those not-so-hot agents that marry their supermodel clients.
I guess it’s an easy way for the stars and models to feel like they are dating more grounded people in their flighty worlds.
She has a beautiful inner spirit that shines through her eyes and face. She shines and sparkles. Her heart must be really special. She looks really good with some weight on her from the pregnancy. Much softer and healthier. Too bad she has to go back to skinny.
I love this couple! And also, Andrew is known more for being a playwright than a director, don’t know where they got that idea. Anyway, they are both wicked smart and have a quirky sense of humor and have one of the few best stable marriages within the Hollywood system. I think it says a lot about Cate for her not marrying the typical Brad Pitts of the world and realizing it takes much more than physical attraction to sustain a long-lasting relationship. They WILL still be married at 80–Hollywood couples should take notice!
