omg her sari is fabulous. she looks great.

  • Mia

That sari is all beaded. looks like swarovski crystals. must have cost her a fortune. shes got too much money tho

  • whatever

maybe this site should be called justAishwarya?

  • GoodGirl

She is so BEAUTIFUL in her BEAUTIFUL sari.

  • Ms. Anonymous

yup, a lot of saris are like that.

I’ve always loved Ash’s style, it takes my breath away!

  • Orchid

    That’s a beautiful sari!

  • Ms. Anonymous

It’s NOT the truth, you don’t know anything about Ash. She is one of the most famous Bollywood starts there is and has done a lot for the industry, she’s a darling, she’s a fantastic actress, so go stew on your jealous!

  • Ms. Anonymous

And fu for voting my comment down.

  • Amy

@whatever: Excuse you? Aish has had how many? FIVE posts this year as opposed to other celebrities and you’re saying that?

  • ok

LOL at @ Cassie and @whatever, despite only having a few posts on here, you both noticed her. You’re still here looking at her. If you didn’t notice or remember her, you wouldn’t even be here commenting that she gets “attention”. So obviously she has some pull that keeps you fascinated and looking. You’re only making yourselves sound jealous with annoyed comments like that lol. She’s only had 4/5 posts! But it bothers you lol!

  • III

Aw. Gorgeous sari, gorgeous actress :)

  • whatever

@Amy: math and counting is so not me

  • Amelle

    they’re so cute together

  • aly

WOW. Now that is a classy classy saree look. She is so beautiful and her husband isn’t bad either!

  • Mel

    Aishwarya rocks. I love her.

  • fashionista

This sari is gorgeous. She’s worn some hideous ones though. The sari is the best garment for women in the history of man. Everywoman looks elegant and chic in it no matter what you weigh. That’s quite a feat.

  • mort

You’re an idiot and sound like a typical uneducated American. Just because your country might not have any culture, doesn’t mean other people should have to ashamed of what their traditions are. Aishwarya Rai is far from backwards. Her outfit is beautiful and the sari’s style is constantly changing in India. It’s a HOT outfit if you have the body to wear it.
Go back to inbreeding with your cousins and eating McDonald’s, because that seems to be the only culture retards like you know.

  • fashionista

In what country do you see even the poorest of women wear raw silk in bolts of color that most westerners have never seen? The West has a long way to go imo. We were there during the couture years from the 30′s – the 50′s. Some of the most sumptous clothing mas made and American women were snapping them up. The American women peaked and started going backwards dressing like farmers and field workers. African women also have the most amazing textiles and wear their national dress at fancy events. Also nobody on the planet can outdo Indian jewelry. America in 2010 is still selling that cheap sad 14K gold when it is illegal to do so around the world because it’s like tin. India is ground zero for fabulous jewels and gems with Italy coming in second then no one else.. I suggest you talk what you know and get out and about and learn not to be ignorant.

  • lol

is the national dress of America jeans, tee shirt and big dirty sneaker?

  • scisan60

This is a vast improvement over who did her styling in the purple Gucci. Here, her makeup and hair are helping her, the purple outfit she was undermined by the shoulders and terrible hair.

  • andamentothat

That Sari looks beautiful on her.. Stunning color and beadwork.. Hairstyle.. meh!!

  • Lydia

Well I take back everything I said last week about her losing her looks. I guess she was waiting for her husband to show up… She looks so stunning and looks really great in the sari.

LOL why can’t these indians/arabs/middle easterns just dress like regular people. Why do they have to drag out their traditional wear all the time? Every culture has their traditional clothes but only backwards indians and muslims still dress like they live in the stone age.
They ARE regular people, wearing clothes that are normal to them. Your pathetic post makes YOU sound backward!
    I’ve got news for you!
There are many Indians and Muslim far better educated than what YOU consider “regular people,” and there are many countries with their own traditional dress. It makes for a beautiful world.
Open your eyes, Anya. Learn! Don’t be ignorant and boring.

  • Ginger

Ash is always so gorgeous! I love the Saris.. I would like to have one one day… kekeke… Just to wear it to an elegant party even though I’m not Indian… I still find their clothing and the saris so beautiful, classy, beautiful and very elegant…
I would love a dark green one or a white one or even a black one since I’m not a very colorful wearing person. kekeke

  • Orchid

Is there a poster from India here, or one who knows about the sari?
Aishwarya wears a green sexy top under her sari.
What is that (the top) called in India? I’ve noticed it can be all the way to the waist, or short, almost like a bra (like Aishwarya’s top here), and different lengths inbetween, and it can be sleeveless or have short or cap sleeves. LOVE IT!

  • Orchid

An Indian friend gave me a silk sari. I haven’t done anything with it.
Must buy a top to match or have it made.
I was also thinking I could have a dress made with it, but that seems like such a waste. Its a long piece of fabric and what would I do with the leftover…

  • Jasmine

She looks stunning! That sari is so fabulous, I can’t even begin to describe it. OMG. lol Green’s like my favorite color and I love the jade and foresty green that are found in her outfit. Her husband’s so handsome, they look great together.
LOL to one of the posters above, yeah, I’d assume she was waiting for her husband to bring out all the stops ;)

  • Jasmine

To the morons with the asinine comments…this festival is in France, not America, so I really don’t know what constitutes “regular” anything when France has a culture that is different from the US. And besides, there are people from all over the world, blending their cultures together, gathering for the sake of art. It’s quite beautiful if you ask me. Art transgresses all boundaries and differences in the world, yet there are so many closed-minded individuals that just harp on petty sh-t. There’s no hope for people like Anya, etc.

  • Twinkle

She is gorgeous! Her husband is hot too.

  • teeter

I mean this with utmost respect but the sari makes her look like she was covered with a fancy curtain. Let’s face it…they’re not putting her in the worst dressed list because the media wants to respect her culture. but if other celebs came out in the red carpet wearing this, they’d be in the worst dressed list. it’s a negative statement, i know, but i’m just being objective.

  • ria

she is looking elegent. i luv her saree.

im sick of immigrants and foriegn people all together. I wish someone would banish them all!

The whole POINT of Cannes is cultural exchange and an international platform for art. That’s obviously a point that you are too unevolved, narrow-mindeded and stupid to grasp. Banishing a L’oreal brand ambassador from a film festival the brand sponsors, not to mention the fatc that she is a powerful, succseful and famous woman herself, is probably impossible.

What is entirely possible, however, is that you shut yourself up at home and never venture out since you dont seem to be able to hand the political correctness and refined ideals of equality and non-discrimination that today’s world espouses. I know barbarians like you would probably like to go back to having slaves and whipping them, but too bad.

FYI: Did you know that the average Indian immigrant in the US in more educated AND earns more than the average american . (Look up Indian American on google)

  • blue

Geez, what brought all the racists out the woodwork? Sometimes my fellow humans are a real embarrassment.

anyway, she’s beautiful, and the sari is beautiful. She looks much better than she did in that pic the other day, although I think that was partly due to an unflattering hairstyle.

Heck, I’d wear a sari if I could get my hands on one- flattering and feminine, in gorgeous colors-, and I’m American, of German extraction. But then someone would probably accuse me of . . . I dunno . . . something.

  • Charlotte

*look up Indian Americans on wikipedia.

“s tupid slum dug Indian, masala smelly foodee”

A comment that is so stereotypically ignorant, without the least bit of proper grammar or spelling and YOU are calling someone else stupid? Ironic.

Face it, Julia Roberts thinks that she’s the most beautiful woman in the world, she is a major star in her home country, she won a miss unvierse title and she has enodrsement deals with major international brands. She could care less what a racist bigot like you (who does not even have the intelligence to structure an insult properly) could think

  • Charlotte

“I mean this with utmost respect but the sari makes her look like she was covered with a fancy curtain.”

Inspiration India has been HUGE on the runways the past couple of years, starting with Hermes’ completely India inspired collection, to Oscar De La Renta and Hermes’ sari-inspired draped dresses to Alexander McQueen’s Indian Inspired collection, to La Perla’s recent swimsuit collection…the list is endless.

Before you decied to be a snarky racist in the name of being objective again, maybe you could take a look at prominent couture trends. Also, where cultural differences are present, there is no being objective. In many places in America it is considered perfectly accetable to walk around to casual places/ grocery stores in worn shorts, uncombed hair, slightly unironed clothes etc…anywhere else in the world and you would be laughed at for eing sloppy and unkempt

im sick of immigrants and foriegn people all together. I wish someone would banish them all!
    Foriegn? What does that mean?
If you’re American, then unless you’re an American Indian, you’re also an immigrant (your family came from another country some time in the past).
If you’re British, you really have no right to be against immigrants. Britain colonized A WHOLE LOT of countries until after WW II, so you have no right to be against them now settling in Britain!
Btw, you’re “foriegn” to other people!

  • adorableonyourvanity

    drop. dead. gorgeous.

  • Happy_Evil_Dude

All you racist mofos have been reported, go rot in your hate.

  • http://justjared sarah

She looks a lot prettier in a sari than western clothes.

  • jiji

Wow! Is this the girl from pink panther? she’s a freakin stunner! How can anyone look so perfect! That’s one sexy look and one lucky fella by her side!

  • JustJill

She and her husband are stunning. Looking at her picture though, rounded face ( a little or shall I say, uh fuller), coupled with her hand across her belly…hmmmm, baby maybe. To the racist comments (yes that is what they are.), please shut up and sit down, your ingnorance is showing…better yet, why don’t you go back to your tv and watch Snooki (goddess of beauty and grace). Or how about some Nascar, beer and nachos. It’s 2010, by the time you catch up,the world will be integrated everywhere to all things and you’ll still be standing there, being ignorant.

as much as i love Aishwarya, you’re wrong on two accounts Charlotte:

    1. Julia Roberts never called Aishwarya “most beautiful…” Aishwarya actually admitted this in an interview (video -so no editing what she says) i’ve seen of hers. This was just a rumor created by her public relations team to get her noticed in the West, and it has just stuck since.

    2. she did not win Miss Universe; she won Miss World. she was the runner-up at the Miss India pageant to Sushmita Sen (although, this was quite close -there was a tie and from that Ms. Sen was chosen) who went onto win Miss Universe. Ash went onto the Miss World competition and won that.

also, i don’t know why you all are feeding the trolls on this site; don’t you realize that they just come here to stir things up?!

  • Ms.B

The garment you are talking about is called a blouse. It can be of varying length as you have noticed and usually goes with the color scheme of the sari unless you wanna experiment with going totally contrast. It can also be full sleeved or sleeveless or half sleeved.. either way you fancy..
It an be backless or can have nice “dori work” on the back to make the look more sexier

  • Charlotte

Sorry about that, my bad. But my point is still valid though. So she won the Ms World instead of the Ms universe, thats still pretty awesome. And okay maybe julia Roberts never said that, but Will Smith has always said he wants to work with her (and there’s video footage of this, so it cant be a rumour). Basically, she’s still too succesful to care about stupid rciast bigots. Agreed?

Just “blouse?” Okay. I thought it had its own name. I like it cropped.
    Thank you!
    What is “dori work?” Embroidery?

  • Kelsey

    she is pretty

  • dreadhead

@Orchid: I believe it is also called a choli. But yeah, blouse too. I think Dori is beading/embroidery.
