Amy Winehouse: No Illegal Drugs in System at Death

Amy Winehouse did not have any illegal substances in her system when she died last month, according to newly released toxicology results.

The late singer, who died a month ago at the age of 27, did have alcohol in her system, but it’s unclear if it played a role in her death, Reuters explained.

“Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy‘s system at the time of her death,” her spokesman said in a statement.

“Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death,” the statement continued.

Well one way or another drugs did play a part. They do their damage no matter when you use them and she did use a lot for a long time.

Gotta say I am surprised at that, but I am glad to be proven wrong and hear that she wasn’t using drugs – seems like she really was trying. So sad and tragic no matter what though, RIP Amy.

    hello amy
    are u reading this?

Not trying to be a bitchh but there were no ILLEGAL drugs. There are plenty of pills that aren’t illegal she could’ve died of

  • Penelope

@Lo: She did die because of abusing drugs. Overdosing on them is not the only way they will kill you.

  • Lo

@Penelope: I actually meant to say overdose, and not drugs.

  • laverdadduele

But she DID died because of drugs. Do you think you can abuse your body for that many years and get away with it?

  • Amaria

@laverdadduele: Well some people can. It’s very individual how one’s body responds to drug use. It damages everyone, but not necessarily so that it’s life threatening. There are plenty of drug users that have lived long lives… Not that I think it’s a good idea though – it’s not. I would never gamble with my life like that. But some people can do it and still function pretty well and live long lives. But you gotta watch the doses though, anyone could die from an overdose.

  • Lola

I have to agree. People don’t pay attention. No ILLEGAL DRUGS were found. I wish she would have pulled through.

  • juestine

I believe it. I’m sure you all saw how grossly underweight she was for many years. She clearly had Anorexia. Do you know what it does to the body when one is starving themselves, abusing drugs, and/or drinking for prolonged amounts of time? She could have very well been “clean” but the damage was already done.

She did not have any illegal substances in her system when she died
but she did have alcohol. It’s unclear if it played a role in her death or not, but I am sure it did. Alcohol and drugs are usually make a damage on your body even when you stop using them and if you are not treat yourself it may kill you even if you are not taking an overdose. A combination of alcohol and some drugs that are legal can cause the death too.
