Gerard Butler Explains His Drastic Weight Loss

Gerard Butler Explains His Drastic Weight Loss

Gerard Butler lands at LAX Airport after flying in from NYC on Thursday (September 15) in Los Angeles.

The 41-year-old Scottish star was in the Big Apple to promote his new movies, Coriolanus and Machine Gun Preacher.

Gerry also attended the Diesel Black Gold show where he chatted with Us Weekly about his recent weight loss.

“I ate my last meal in October and I run about 40 miles a day,” he joked. “It’s just doing a lot of cardio and extremely watching what I eat. I stopped lifting big weights and I’m doing yoga.”

“If I wear a long shirt, everyone says, ‘Oh my, God! He lost so much weight.’ But this is how I look,” he added. “I just used to be a lot bigger. But now I’m surfing. I’m doing a surf movie so I have to slim down. I don’t know … maybe I’m sick or something!”

FYI: Gerard is wearing a Rogue plaid shirt and dark olive jacket.

@UK: To follow GB and all his antics is a lot of fun, but you cannot possibly take anything he says or does seriously. Smoke and mirrors.

@Blond: But it is obvious that many of those here, and on WO, have a lot personally invested in his career and/or s*x life, to the point where they find it distressing. An addiction.

@Blond: Agreed, but an occasional check is better than spending all day on the board, which some seem to do, awaiting developments.

You make a lot of great points on here. I usually come here just to check out the comments because they are just too wild. But I became a part of the wildness today because I caved and started arguing because I get defensive when it comes to the treatment of women I guess. But it’s definitely time to go…..

@UK: I like to read the poster’s comments on Gerard Butler. It is a small sample, but I like to see the fan’s reactions. Always, it is varied, but then again the same also. RL has been hectic for me in the past several days, so it is fun and entertaining to read the JJ Gerard Butler threads.

@UK: Totally agree. Checking this site once in a while is a lot of fun but to live on JJ or any other GB site is definitely an addiction.

Nobody You Know @ 09/16/2011 at 4:41 pm

I mentioned months ago that NY Lunch Girl’s name was Nicole.

That’s been established along with her last name, thus publicity (for her). We get it. Like Gerry says it’s a “win-win” situation.

@GFW: You must think that Gerard Butler has a terrible personality and is a horrible person to be around? Seems you don’t have a very high opinion of him. From what you post, the only reason people want to be around him is for publicity. Can he be that unlikable?

Earlyautumn's Eve @ 09/16/2011 at 5:54 pm

I think Gerry has a system down. He may go out or shag a model or two or even others and keep them on as “friends” with a nice parting gift, calling them up to meet him for lunch or go to a club. This way, he has GF’s to choose from like he does his different cars. No since being stuck to just one when you can have a different one for each mood or day of the week and you don’t have to answer to any one o them! LOL!

Earlyautumn's Eve @ 09/16/2011 at 5:56 pm

Ooh, I had a wee bit o the scot’s accent on that one! LOL!

@Earlyautumn’s Eve: I think he only has two cars. Of course, as always, others here might know more than I.

His first with a gymnast in Jamaica.. I thought he was joking in the interview when asked during TUT promo. Too much info. here.

He was not under oath during Stern interview, so he had the liberty to fudge his answers a little if he deemed it necessary when they got too personal. This could come back bite his a$$. Whatever he said some people will take it as the absolute truth and some will call him a liar if he later recants.

He sounded like he realized his playboy image was not good for his career. But the question is: why the hail did he have another public snogging session? Contradictory here, unless he wanted to deflect the Brandi FWB rumors.

At the end of the Stern interview he started to sound a little desperate to try to dispel rumors about his playboy behavior. Poor guy he literally had to yell to get a chance to talk with not much voice left.

I sincerely hope he will refrain from comparing Sam’s finding God and going to Africa to save children to his quitting law and becoming an actor. It’s cringeworthy because although both went through personal transformations, Sam’s is altruistic while his is all for Gerard. Bid difference. JMO

I think that people can excuse the Charlie’s and Tigers and men who abuse their girlfriends and wives. But god forbid Gerard Butler, who does a lot of good for people, must be put down. I just don’t understand all the negative points that always seem to come out on this man’s life.

Also, about the Central Park encounter with the two Argentine girls… Stern seemed to try to make something more out of this than there was. “Two women crying and moved so much because of the nearness of him..” WTH? I remember only one teenage girl crying and she obviously was over-excited over a celebrity who was unexpectedly nice and friendly. That’s my interpretation anyway.

You are right on the money with that Stern interview. I was laughing and cringing all at the same time.
Butler laid himself bare and put a lot of things to rest IMO.
I LMAO… if Butler thought it was hard to use and discard American women before………..
They will continue to make excuses. They’ve been doing it for years…
It is my favorite trainwreck in slow motion… can’t seem to look away. :(
I so agree with you. I find it disingenuous when he starts comparing himself to Sam… it just doesn’t sit well IMO…
Are you serious??? Listen to the Stern interview… he did it to himself. *shaking head*

@66 (Manny)

Hey GF;

Wuz up?! Me, I did not listen to the whole HS interview….what I did was like wow….. because for one, on 9-12 there was a post saying he was interviewed by Farah Nasser (!/FarahNasser)
“Interviewed the very dreamy Gerard Butler this morning. He says he’s looking for a woman who is fun and easy-going…..” then the HS’s interview. I wonder if he meant easy and “fun-going”. He really stepped on his “Mr. Bates” big time IMO. I can understand joking and all and he is known for inserting foot and taking “forward” to the extreme…. wonder how this is going to pan out. The View and other interviews were after right? Funny, he wasn’t drilled like Howie did him and he seemed “human”….. Who’s to say he wasn’t uncomfortable…his body language did show he was uneasy more so in the HS interview than in the others…. then again with what bits I saw of the others they did not get that personal. Anyway, have a great day.

@ 64 and 65 hey peeps I co-sign on both….. now… please give me a thumbs down on this also! In the mean time have a nice evening….

Earlyautumn's Eve @ 09/16/2011 at 10:40 pm

I believe he has a Range Rover, Yukon, Escalade Hybrid, a little Mercedes suv crossover and his vintage beemer convertible. I’ve seen him driving all of them. I’ve seen Amy drive the Range Rover sometimes and the Yukon. But I think they’re for the production company’s fleet of vehicles. I don’t know if he still has the white 500 SL convertible or not.

I don’t understand it either. Their behavior is almost acceptable to Gerry’s for some reason. I think the reason the media plays up the neg is because Gerry’s so evasive of his private life so they have to invent stuff to make it more interesting. In truth, his private life is pretty dull compared.

I don’t think they mentioned that it was the two young Argentine sisters but that was who I thought of. Their parents were right there with them and the girl was emotional from not only the celeb siting but I think because they were going to see The Phantom Of The Opera that night on Broadway. Two young girls visiting NYC and seeing a celeb is a big deal! Nothing wrong with that.

I listened to the entire interview and I liked that he laid himself bare in a lot of what they discussed. It’s the HS Show and I don’t think a lot of what he said will be heard by just everybody but ther was nothing so bad. Howard has a certain audience and I had never listened to his show before. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the interview though.
As far as what G said about comparing American women to European women I think what he was referring to was that American women get more hung up on the expression of their sexuality as it refers to being in a relationship then just sex for fun. I think that’s true. That’s our culture here. We’re taught that a man is “using” a woman if he has sex with her and doesn’t carry on a proper relationship with her or never calls her again. That’s saying in essence that it’s all a one sided thing and that the man is getting something and the woman is giving it and he owes her something in exchange for sex rather then saying they both enjoyed the experience equally and they both got something out of it. I think that takes away from the equality of it and puts women back in the subservient position of being the “giver” and the man being the “taker”. We’re still living in the fifties in that regard.
Women are much more sexually open and sophisticated in a lot of European cultures then in the US and it’s more acceptable for them to be sexually open and they don’t feel if they have sex with a guy it has to be in a committed relationship. Not only that but some feel it’s OK to have extramarital sex as well. Just a concept we haven’t embraced in the states yet. LOL!

Earlyautumn's Eve @ 09/16/2011 at 10:42 pm

Sorry, didn’t realize that last post was so freaking long! LOL!

Earlyautumn's Eve @ 09/16/2011 at 10:53 pm

I think that last article is funny if he said that! LOL! My husband says that too. It’s a man thing but I think women do the same thing and men just think they have cornered the market on superficial raunch talk! Men look at body parts first on a woman, face, azz, whatever. They do. It’s how they’re hard wired. But women will do the same thing but there are so many more frumpy men out there then good looking ones, we’ve just learned to expect less! I’m glad for guys like Gerry setting the bar higher for males to live up to. It’s about time! LOL!

Maggie P.U. @ 09/16/2011 at 11:02 pm

@70 Evie…. you are correct. I have both European and American friends both men and women. Euro’s are more laid back in many things especially the relationship/sex issue compared to the Americans. Especially the women. My friends from across the pond are like “had a great time moving on…” and one of my friends here for example is like “He doesn’t feed me then I am not sleeping with him”. In other words, no burger no bop. You definitely hit it on the nail head. I think that was what Gerry was trying to say in Gerry’s own way but like I said.. With the little I heard and his body language he didn’t get to enhance that remark. And that is why I said he pretty much stepped on Mr. Bates…. He has been in enough interviews to expect the unexpected and expected. He should have said something like “Let me clarify” or if HS is cutting him off “May I finish” or something of the sort to where it isn’t leaving him wide open for “why did you say that”… and so forth.

Written by UK on the last thread “Looking at a gilded life, produced by sheer selfishness, plus the desire to see though to some kind of truth (which isn’t any different than the public GB) is corrosive”.
I wanted to thank you for saying what I’ve been thinking for some time. Reading about this guy and others like him does have a “corrosive” effect. Which is why I so seldom read threads about him. I enjoy this site, my guilty pleasure, but Butler is not a sugar pill; he’s best taken in small doses.

You really need to listen to the full HS interview to appreciate why people are raving about it. Don’t just listen to the first Youtube video and think you know what it’s about. When the interview really gets going, it gets into very serious territory. Gerry wasn’t uncomfortable. Cubedweller is right. Gerry starts to control the interview, not the other way around. Gerry was in his element, he was a fish in water. He can handle men like HS. Their sense of humor is very similar. HS covers some really intense territory and you get answers and insights from Gerry that he’s never given before. Lots of revelations about his father, his mother, his step dad, his early acting career, and his very honest views on women and relationships. Tune out the vulgarity and listen to all six parts. Lots of great insights in that interview for Gerry fans. It’s also going to be a treasure trove for our resident arm-chair psychologists on JJ.
