who isn’t singing in Hollywood in an animation or musical movie? Does it to a seven year old or five year old.. as long as the see the cartoon character it’s all the same to them.

  • Dee

Um, yea….wow I totaallly see it!

  • mandyz

She looks like Belle for the most part but Belle looks sweeter in demeanor than Emma. I think Emma (or at least her facial features) gives too much of a smug vibe to play down-to-earth Belle, which you can see in the side-by-side comparison pic of them here. Just my opinion though. But can Emma even sing? I think she got the part only because she looks like Belle, she’d have to learn how to acquire a French accent for this role cause Belle in the Disney movie did have a slight French accent in her speaking.

    Emma is the perfect choice!

  • Sharon

    She was born in France

  • Joolz

I guess I’m the only one who doesn’t agree with this.

  • guest

A younger Emmy Rossum or Anne Hathaway would have been perfect for this role, but I’m happy for Emma. She’s great.

  • Gabrielle

As long as she plays Belle, I dont care about anything else. This was announced forever ago. I hope they actually make the movie this time. Stephen is a great choice to write the script. I can’t wait!!

Emma has ability to do performed every specially in children dreams stories. she already prove her self in harry porter . i think this another mega project her life belle and beast is popular story i saw many play land where belle and beast wallpapers put for children entertainment. we are waiting for her new movie

  • Maria

Emma Watson is just not Belle, in any way. Would NEVER have chosen her.

  • Barry

She should have leave when Guillermo del Toro dropped it.
With him, there was a possibility to do an original and personal movie, like the Bling Ring and even Noah were.
But now, it’s certainly gonna be another Disney very opportunistic commercial product.

  • Joolz

I completely agree. I wouldn’t have chosen her either. I would have chosen someone prettier.

  • Sofia

    That doesn’t mean she’s french though :)

  • Sofia

I was excited to see Del Toro’s version, but anyway I’ve LOVED Beauty and the Beast since I was a little girl, so no matter who plays Belle I am going to see it.

  • Sharon

You’re right. Just because you are born in France doesn’t mean you’re French. It means you’re Armenian. Geez.

  • Sofia

Have you ever read citizenship laws of some countries? Apparently not. In most countries being born in its territory does not give you nationality or citizenship. “GEEZ”.

  • Sharon

Who said she was French? Did you read the OP. If she was born in France it might be very easy for her to “acquire” a French accent. I was responding to the OP who mentioned Emma would have to acquire a French accent. That was the statement. Sorry if I came across rude. It was just that your response didn’t make sense to me.

  • Sofia

“You’re right. Just because you are born in France doesn’t mean you’re French. It means you’re Armenian.” You were responding to me, but whatever.

I’m sure she’ll do great! She was awesome in the Harry Potter movies.

  • Linda

I think Anne Hathaway resembles Belle more and would have been my first choise, but I think Emma will do a good job still :)

  • SuperNuova

This has completely ruined my hope for the live action remake. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite Disney movies. Anne Hathaway IS Belle. She would have been perfect, blending sweetness and innocence with that dark French beauty, the big eyes and smile, and it goes without saying her singing is superb. But Emma Watson? Really!? Why! I’m so sad about this and don’t know why Anne wasn’t chosen. Never getting over this :(
