Caitlyn Jenner's Full 'Vanity Fair' Interview Released - Read the Quotes!
Caitlyn Jenner debuted on Vanity Fair‘s July 2015 issue just a few weeks ago, and now the entire story is available online to read.
Here’s what the 65-year-old reality star and former Olympian had to share with the mag:
On Kris Jenner: “I think in a lot of ways she became less tolerant of me. Then I’d get upset and the whole relationship kind of fizzled. A lot of times she wasn’t very nice. People would see how I got mistreated. She controlled the money … all that kind of stuff.”
Kris, on her marriage: “When I met Bruce, he told me that he had done hormones back in the early 80s. This was a conversation that took place in the early 90s. So, what he was telling me happened a decade earlier, and he never really explained it…there wasn’t a gender issue. Nobody mentioned a gender issue. Somebody mentioned that [he] at one point in his life liked to dress up.”
Burt Jenner, on Caitlyn: “I have high hopes that Caitlyn is a better person than Bruce. I’m very much looking forward to that.”
On pronoun use: “I don’t really get hung up. A guy came in the other day and I was fully dressed”it’s just habit, I said ‘Hi, Bruce here,’ and I went, Oh f*ck, it ain’t Bruce, I was screwing up doing it.”
On feeling like a lie: “Underneath my suit I have a bra and panty hose and this and that and thinking to myself, They know nothing about me. I walk off the stage and I’d feel like a liar. And I would say, ‘F*ck, I can’t tell my story. There’s so much more to me than those 48 hours in the stadium, and I can’t talk about it.’ It was frustrating. You get mad at yourself…. Little did they know I was totally empty inside. Totally empty inside.”
On the impact of her Diane Sawyer interview: “Honestly, since the Diane Sawyer piece every day it’s exciting to go to the mailbox, because I get letters every day from all of these people from all over the world. I’ve gotten a lot from trans women, telling their story, and how excited they were to see the Diane piece.”
