'The Martian' Holds Strong at No. 1 With $37 Million in Week Two
Matt Damon‘s new movie The Martian once again won the weekend box office with an additional $37 million gross!
According to THR, the 3D space movie, also starring Kate Mara, Jessica Chastain, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, only fell 32 percent in its second week for a domestic total of $108.7 million so far.
Coming in at No. 2 was the animated flick Hotel Transylvania 2, which brought in an additional $20.3 million in its third weekend for a total of $116.8 million.
Taking the third spot was Hugh Jackman, Rooney Mara, Garrett Hedlund, and Levi Miller‘s Pan, which opened with $15.5 million.
Rounding out the top five were The Intern and Sicario, which earned $8.7 million and $7.4 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s latest film The Walk expanded nationwide to a $3.7 million gross.
The Steve Jobs biopic took in $521,000 from four theaters, for a location average of $130,236. The movie stars Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen, and Jeff Daniels.
