Idina Menzel Lands Lead Role in 'Beaches' TV Movie for Lifetime

Idina Menzel is bringing Beaches back with Lifetime.

The 45-year-old Broadway star is set to take on Bette Midler‘s role in a TV movie remake of the classic 1988 film, according to THR.

In case you didn’t now, the film follows a privileged rich debutante and a cynical struggling entertainer who share a turbulent, but strong childhood friendship over the years.

Idina will, in fact, re-record the classic songs “Wind Beneath My Wings” and “The Glory of Love,” in addition to other tracks from the film.

Production on Beaches is set to begin August 15 in Vancouver.
