Andrea Martin to Play Ariana Grande's Mom in 'Hairspray Live'

Andrea Martin has joined the cast of NBC’s Hairspray Live!

According to EW, the 69-year-old Tony Award winner is set to play Prudy Pingleton, mother of Penny, who will be played by pop star Ariana Grande.

“I am so excited to be a part of #HairsprayLive on @NBC! Can’t wait to bring it to life on December 7!”,” Andrea tweeted.

If you remember, Allison Janney played the role in the 2007 film remake.

The star-studded cast also includes Jennifer Hudson, Kristin Chenoweth, Derek Hough, Dove Cameron, Garrett Clayton, and more.

Hairspray Live will air on December 7 on NBC.
