A Wrinkle in Time's Storm Reid Stuns on First Solo Magazine Cover

Storm Reid is surrounded by flowers on her first-ever solo magazine cover, for LaPalme Magazine‘s Spring 2018 Young Hollywood Issue.

Here’s what the 14-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On A Wrinkle in Time‘s message: “I know I got to be part of something huge. I just love sharing the film’s message. I think people will be touched and hopefully come together as one. That’s what we really need to be thinking about now, in a pretty dark time – coming together as one.”

On her favorite genre: “I actually prefer the dark heavy stuff. Of course, I loved doing Nickelodeon – a fun experience and you make a lot of friends. But I really love the heavy dramatic stuff – tell somebody’s story in depth. Drama is my favorite genre.”

On staying grounded as a young star: “I think kid actors may grow up faster, with the responsibility of having to do school work, learn all lines. But in a life sense, it’s about the people you surround yourself with – what you’re doing outside of acting. If you’re all about the nice things and fame, you can grow up faster. But if you’re doing what you love, and being a regular kid off the set – you can be okay. I’m still hanging out with friends, watching cooking shows. It has to be a good balance – acting and being a regular teenager and human being. It’s not about getting so much attention ALL the time. We’re still kids and we won’t be perfect all the time.”

Creative Director Derek Warburton on choosing Storm for the cover: “Deciding on who to put on our covers is not an easy task. The reason I wanted to Storm Reid on our spring cover was very personal. One reason is that Storm is a young woman at the beginning of her career which seems perfect for a spring issue. But the real reason is that she reminds me of my own youth. When I was her age, I was horribly bullied. I was scared to walk down the hall in fear of great ridicule. There was another young woman named Yolonda who looked just like Storm who protected me. She always made me feel safe and demanded respect for me. When I asked her why, she would always say, you deserve. I will never forget that. Storm is very outspoken, even for a young woman for equality, love and strength. I am proud to have her as the face of LaPalme Magazine.”
