Meghan Trainor Recalls Being 'Terrified' When She Dropped 'All About That Bass'

Meghan Trainor is opening up about her mental state when she first released her 2014 debut single “All About That Bass.”

The 24-year-old “NO” singer shared her thoughts during a visit to the Today show on Friday (December 7).

“My whole life, my whole career, I was judged from my first song right away,” Meghan said. “I was coming out in the world saying, ‘Here’s me, here’s my curves. Love it. This is it,’ which was perfect and terrifying at the same time.”

“This was the first time I danced in public,” she continued. “This was terrifying on so many different levels. I never really danced at the school dances, and I remember my first thought was, ‘Oh no, what if the kids in high school see this video?!’ I was just so embarrassed.”

“[I was afraid of] being judged, being laughed at … I was freaking out,” she added. “I called my uncle and was like, ‘I don’t know if I can actually do this,’ and he was like, ‘You got this. It’s easy. So I just faked it ’til I made it.”
