These 'Game of Thrones' Actors Had to Submit Themselves for Emmys When HBO Didn't (& They Got Nominations!)

Game of Thrones and HBO personally submitted seven actors for Emmy nomination consideration this year: Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Peter Dinklage and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

All seven actors deservedly got nominations for the 2019 Emmy Awards. However, HBO did not submit the names of three actors who also received nominations due to self-submission.

Emmy rules allow actors to self-submit for nominations with a fee of $225. This year, Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth), Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) and Carice van Houten (Melisandre) all decided to self-submit after HBO did not include them with their submissions. All three earned nominations at the 2019 Emmys!

Game of Thrones‘ Emmy nominations actually broke a record this year!
