Terminally Ill 'Star Wars' Fan Screens 'The Rise of Skywalker' One Month Before Release

Disney helped grant a huge Star Wars fan his final wish.

The terminally ill fan in England dreamed of seeing The Rise of Skywalker with his young son but feared he would not make it to the film’s December 20th release date.

Rowans Hospice quickly began a campaign to get the attention of anyone who could help arrange an advanced screening for the family and they thankfully caught the attention of Mark Hamill.

“Can you help? We have a patient who’s a HUGE #StarWars fan. Sadly, time is not on his side for the 20th Dec. His wish is to see the final Star Wars film #RiseOfSkywalker with his young son. If you know ANYBODY who might be able to make it happen, please share with them,” the facility wrote.

Just days after Mark told the team to get in touch with Disney, CEO Bob Iger tweeted that the family would be screening the movie.

“On this Thanksgiving, we at @Disney are grateful to be able to share #TheRiseOfSkywalker with a patient and his family @RowansHospice. May the force be with you and with us all!” Bob wrote.

This isn’t the first time Disney has helped arrange an advanced screening for an ill fan. Before The Force Awakens was released, J.J. Abrams and Disney helped a very sick fan see the movie almost two months early.
