Rene Auberjonois Dead - 'Star Trek' Actor Dies at 79

Star Trek actor René Auberjonois has sadly passed away at the age of 79.

René‘s son Rèmy-Luc revealed that his father died on Sunday (December 8) at his home in Los Angeles after a battle with metastatic lung cancer.

René is best know for playing Odo, the shape-shifting Changeling and head of space-station security on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, from 1993 until 1998 and became a regular at Star Trek conventions.

He also had roles on Benson, M.A.S.H., and Boston Legal.

In addition to his son, René is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Judith Mihalyi daughter Tessa, and three grandchildren.

René is the third person involved in Star Trek to pass away this week, following the deaths of actor Robert Walker Jr. and writer D.C. Fontana.

Our thoughts are with René‘s loved ones during this difficult time.
