Chrissy Teigen Credits This Food with Helping Her Postpartum Depression
Chrissy Teigen is explaining how she believes bone broth helped her body heal from postpartum depression.
It all started when OB/GYN Jennifer Gunter tweeted, “It is such an amazing scam to rename stock as “bone broth,” claim miraculous health benefits, and sell it for a small fortune.”
If you don’t know, bone broth is made from bones from chickens or cows and is cooked for an extended period of time to pull more nutrients from the bones. Stock is usually made with more meat and is cooked for a shorter period of time.
Chrissy saw Jennifer‘s tweet and issued a lengthy response about her health and how she was feeling after giving birth. She added that Lexapro helped her mentally, but the bone broth helped her heal in other ways.
Real bone broth is rich with marrow and deep flavor. Chicken stock is…water. When i was suffering horribly from post partum depression, I was covered in bruises, had no energy and no ability to sleep. I attribute much of the physical aspect of getting better to bone broth.

if some stupid thing I buy makes *me* not want to jump off a building that day, I considered that a win.

Someone would grab my hand, I bruised. My blood was thin and weak. I needed that fat, that marrow, that hot feeling of relief and comfort to sleep! Could I have eaten a steak? I didn’t have the energy

anyhoo. I know you’re the doc. I’m just the patient. I have no stake in selling these things that make me feel better. It just hurts to be told you’re wrong or crazy or naive when something so small made my life exponentially better. Everyone should have that feeling.
