Antonio Banderas Brings Daughter Stella & Girlfriend Nicole Kimpel to Oscars 2020

Oscar nominee Antonio Banderas steps with his daughter Stella and girlfriend Nicole Kimpel at the 2020 Academy Awards on Sunday (February 9) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Antonio Banderas Teaches 'A Chorus Line' Choreography to Conan O'Brien - Watch Now!

Antonio Banderas recently starred in a Spanish production of the classic musical A Chorus Line and he’s showing off the dance moves he learned!

The Oscar-nominated actor taught the choreography to Conan O’Brien during an appearance on Conan on Monday (February 3) in Los Angeles.

Antonio told Conan about opening up a theater in his hometown of Malaga, Spain.

There are currently discussions to bring the Spanish production of A Chorus Line to Broadway. Antonio, who is currently Oscar-nominated for his work in Pain and Glory, is in talks to star in the show again!

Antonio Banderas Reveals He's in Talks to Bring His Spanish 'A Chorus Line' to Broadway!

A Chorus Line might be returning to Broadway… in Spanish!

While making an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night (January 28), Pain & Glory star and Oscar nominee Antonio Banderas hinted that the acclaimed production might be on its way to New York.

Antonio opened a theater and school in his hometown of Málaga, Spain last year, called Teatro del Soho CaixaBank, and mounted the first Spanish production of A Chorus Line as the theater’s inaugural musical.

We wanted to create that feeling for the audience in Spain that they’re actually watching a show on Broadway. We do it exactly how it was done here and it may happen, actually,” Antonio, who directed the production and starred as Zach, admitted. “It may happen, actually. We’re in negotiations now to end up in New York here, doing A Chorus Line in Spanish.”

Antonio also talked about his film Pain & Glory, suffering a heart attack and the thing a nurse told him about beginning to experience feelings in a different way.

Antonio Banderas Says His Oscar Nomination Is A Very 'Big Deal'

Antonio Banderas smiles back at the cameras while leaving ABC Studios in New York City on Tuesday (January 28).

The 59-year-old actor stopped by Good Morning America and opened up about his Oscar nomination for Pain and Glory.

“You have no idea how important they are around the world. It’s very strong,” he shared about the nomination. “For someone like me to get a nomination in a little movie, speaking my own language, Spanish. It’s a big deal.”

Antonio also revealed where he was when he learned of the nomination – in a a restaurant in his hometown of Málaga, Spain.

“I was having lunch with the mayor of the town,” he recalled. “I looked at [my phone] and I saw that the movie was nominated for Best Foreign Film. I thought, ‘Well, I’m very happy but my nomination already passed.’”

“Suddenly, I am in the middle of lunch and the phone started ‘beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep.’ I look and it was 300 messages. ‘You’ve been nominated.’ 50 minutes after that, there were like 100 paparazzis at the door of the restaurant. It was unbelievable,” he shared.

Penelope Cruz Stuns at Goya Awards 2020 with 'Pain & Glory' Team

Penelope Cruz looks stunning while walking the red carpet at the 2020 Goya Cinema Awards on Saturday (January 25) at the Jose Maria Martin Carpena Sports Palace in Malaga, Spain.

The Oscar-winning actress was joined at the event by Pain and Glory director Pedro Almodovar and co-star Antonio Banderas with his girlfriend Nicole Kempel.

Antonio was also seen getting a kiss from model Jon Kortajarena on the carpet!

Pain and Glory is nominated for sixteen awards at the event, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor for Antonio, and Best Actress for Penelope.

While Penelope has won three Goya Awards in the past, Antonio has yet to win. Seeing as he received an Oscar nomination for this performance, it seems it’s probably his time!

Antonio Banderas On His Oscar 2020 Nomination: 'I Was Surprised'!

Antonio Banderas has responded to his first ever Oscar nomination!

While attending a special screening for his film Pain and Glory ahead of the 2020 Goya Awards ceremony on Monday (January 13) in Malaga, Spain, the 59-year-old shared his reaction to being nominated for his leading role in the Pedro Almodóvar-directed film.

“I was surprised,” Antonio expressed (via Deadline). “There is this period of the Oscars becoming the big awards worldwide, not only American, but worldwide. It’s logical though that it takes time to adapt, and see what the future is of these important awards. It will be very interesting if it actually covers the whole entire world.”

In another statement about his nomination, Antonio Banderas said: “I would like to thank The Academy for my nomination for Best Actor for my work in Pain and Glory. It is an honor to share the nomination with my fellow actors, they did an amazing job. The bar is very high and I’m very thankful to be in the run for the Oscars. I would like to congratulate Pedro Almodóvar and the Pain and Glory team for the International Feature Film nomination for the amazing work they did. I would also like to thank Sony Pictures Classic for their support and effort to get here.”
