Gavin Rossdale & Malin Akerman Support 'The Space Between Us' Cast At Hollywood Premiere - Watch Trailer!

Gavin Rossdale and Malin Akerman stepped out to support the cast of The Space Between Us at their official premiere held at ArcLight Hollywood on Tuesday (January 17) in Hollywood.

The 51-year-old entertainer and Malin, 38, were joined by stars of the flick Janet Montgomery, Carla Gugino, Britt Roberston and Asa Butterfield, as well as Emmanuelle Chriqui, Will Chase and girlfriend Ingrid Michaelson, and Brant Daugherty, who all also came out to show support.

In The Space Between Us, a space shuttle embarks on the first mission to colonize Mars, only to discover after takeoff that one of the astronauts is pregnant. Shortly after landing, she dies from complications while giving birth to the first human born on the red planet – never revealing who the father is. Thus begins the extraordinary life of Gardner Elliot (Butterfield) – an inquisitive, highly intelligent boy who reaches the age of 16 having only met 14 people in his very unconventional upbringing.

The Space Between hits theaters on February 3 – Watch trailer below!

Asa Butterfield Reveals the Biggest Challenge of Being a British Actor in America

Asa Butterfield takes the cover of Da Man magazine’s brand new issue!

Here’s what the 19-year-old The Space Between Us actor had to share with the mag:

On if he would sign on for a TV show: “Yeah, I think I would do some more TV. Merlin and Ashes to Ashes are the only things I’ve done so far, and I think there are some incredible TV shows on at the moment. If something great came on, I would love to get back into it.

On his biggest challenge working in America (he’s an English actor): “The biggest challenge is the accent. As an English actor here, to be successful means you really have to be able to do an American accent, and thankfully, I can, and a lot of English actors can as well. I tend to think that English actors are better at American than American actors are at English. Don’t know why. Maybe our accents are a bit harder. No, I think that’s right actually. The American accent is really kind of relaxed and easy. Once I started doing an American accent in a movie, I actually prefer to talk like that because it takes much less effort and it takes me a while to get back into my normal voice.”

Asa Butterfield Promotes 'Miss Peregrine' During Build Series Stop

Asa Butterfield rocks his glasses during an appearance at the Build Series in New York City on Thursday (September 29).

The 19-year-old Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children actor is also featured in the new issue of Schon magazine. Here’s what he had to share:

On making connections with his movie characters: “I find the characters which are the most interesting, or most relatable are the ones that have their own kind of issue or problem that they are dealing with. Whether they are the same ones that you are dealing with or not, it allows you to kind of empathise with the character.”

On relating to Jacob in Miss Peregrine: “[He's] taken out of his comfort zone. He’s kicked out of his home and is taken to a children’s home. He’s totally out of place; in the deep end. Me, growing up in this industry, thrown into this world which, when I started, I knew very little about… I’m still trying to grasp it all. I think actors are some of the most empathetic people because they have to put themselves in positions where they feel uncomfortable or they’ve got to deal with something terrible. That really allows you to feel for people in the real world who are going through struggles and are having a tough time.”

On working with Tim Burton: “There were a lot of moments where we would do a take, get the scene right, and then he would come up to me and say, ‘Now just do whatever you want; forget everything I’ve said and do your own thing.’ Firstly, that makes you, as an actor, feel like he trusts your take on it which, when you’re working with a director like Tim, means a lot. It also kind of gets rid of the pressure and gives the ability to take a deep breath, to start again, and to do something different.”

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is out NOW in theaters.

FYI: Asa is wearing a Kenzo jacket at Build.
