Elisabeth Hasselbeck Tried to Quit 'The View' in the Middle of a Commercial Break in 2006 - Listen!

Elisabeth Hasselbeck tried to quit The View in the middle of a commercial break in 2006.

In the newly released Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of ‘The View, author Ramin Setoodeh revealed that on August 2, 2006, Elisabeth was arguing with Barbara Walters and Joy Behar about a proposal to make the morning-after pill available over-the-counter.

“Could you stop now? We have to go on and we have to learn how to discuss these things in some sort of rational way,” Barbara said on-air.

“F–k that!” Elisabeth screamed backstage in newly surfaced audio.

“I’m not going to sit there and get reprimanded on the air. It’s not okay to sit there and get reprimanded on the air!”

“What the f–k! I’m not going back out there…I don’t even swear. She has me swearing. This woman is driving me nuts. I’m not going back. I can’t do the show like this. She just reprimanded me, and she knew exactly what she was doing. Good-bye! I’m off. Write about that in the New York F–KING Post!”

“I’m quitting…I’m over, I’m leaving…Barbara just fully reprimanded me,” she angrily declared before ultimately agreeing to going back on-air.

Jenny McCarthy Says Barbara Walters Constantly Yelled at Her on 'The View'

Jenny McCarthy is getting candid about her short-lived stint working with Barbara Walters on The View.

The 46-year-old actress, model and TV host opened up about her experience in the upcoming Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View by Ramin Setoodeh, which was previewed on Vulture on Wednesday (March 20).

Jenny worked on The View from 2013 to 2014.

“You know the movie Mommie Dearest?” I remember as a child watching that movie and going, ‘Holy cow!’” she said in the book. “I’ve never seen a woman yell like that before until I worked with Barbara Walters.”

“Imagine a woman like Barbara Walters,” she added. “It’s her last year and she doesn’t want to leave. Think about that. And I’m the new bitch there.”

She also claimed that they couldn’t do pop culture topics “because [Barbara] doesn’t know who the people are,” so she was forced to tackle politics.

“I panicked because I don’t consider myself a political person. Now I had to figure out, ‘Am I coming out as a Republican or a Democrat? Where do I stand on all the social issues and political issues?’”

She also said Barbara judged her outfits, and that “if she didn’t agree with it, or it didn’t complement her outfit, I had to change.”

She also said Barbara once confronted her about a tampon floating in a toilet.

Jenny, there’s a tampon floating in the toilet and it’s disgusting,” Barbara reportedly said.

“She’s standing in the hallway where the guests are, yelling at me about a tampon. I don’t know. Maybe in her brain, she went, ‘I’m going to the youngest, newest person here, because obviously she has her period and left a tampon floating.’ This is Barbara Walters. I’m not going to yell at her. So finally I said, ‘I’ll take care of it. I’ll take one for the team and I’ll flush it,’” Jenny explained.

“Every day I went home and I was miserable. It really was the most miserable I’ve been on a job in my 25 years of show business.”
