Earlier in the day, the 48-year-old actor was seen hugging a co-star while filming scenes for the flick.

Robert Downey, Jr. and Melissa Leo hang out together before shooting scenes for their upcoming film The Judge on Thursday (July 11) in Dedham, Mass.

The 48-year-old actor and 52-year-old actress star in the movie about a successful lawyer who returns to his hometown for his mother’s funeral only to discover that his estranged father, the town’s judge, is suspected of murder.

Leighton Meester, Vera Farmiga, Dax Shepard, and Billy Bob Thornton also star in the flick, set to be released next year – be on the lookout!

Robert Downey, Jr. has been confirmed to return to his beloved character Iron Man in two upcoming Avengers films, Marvel.com has revealed.

The 48-year-old actor was initially tight lipped about returning to the character, but will be headlining Marvel’s The Avengers 2 and Marvel’s The Avengers 3.

The Avengers 2, written and directed by Joss Whedon, is set to begin production next year with a release date of May 1, 2015.

The 48-year-old actor chatted and joked with crew members as he awaited his directions for upcoming scenes.

“He is Iron Man in the way that Sean Connery was James Bond,” Joss Whedon recently told The Daily Beast about Avengers 2 rumors. “I have no intention of making Avengers 2 without him, nor do I think I’ll be called upon to do that. I don’t think it’s in my interest, Marvel’s interest, or his interest, and I think everything will be fine.”

The 48-year-old actor was joined on the set that day by his co-star Dax Shepard, who filmed a running scene.

The Judge is about a successful lawyer who returns to his hometown for his mother’s funeral only to discover that his estranged father, the town’s judge, is suspected of murder.

The film, which is set to be released next year, also stars Vera Farmiga, Leighton Meester, Billy Bob Thornton, and more.
