Louisiana City Apologizes for Using 'Purge' Siren to Signal Quarantine

A city in Louisiana is issuing an apology after using the siren from the movie The Purge to signal the start of a 9pm curfew of the city’s mandatory quarantine.

Crowley, Louisiana police used the siren without apparently knowing that it was the same sound used to signal the start of the purge in the hit films, where crimes became legal for one night.

“Last night a ‘Purge Siren’ was utilized by the Crowley Police Department as part of their starting curfew. We have received numerous complaints with the belief that our agency was involved in this process. We were not involved in the use of the ‘Purge Siren’ and will not utilize any type of siren for this purpose,” Acadia Parish sheriff K.P. Gibson said (via Variety).

A local news crew uploaded the sound of the siren, and you can hear below.

The Fifth 'Purge' Movie Could Be the Last One in the Film Series

It was just announced that the fifth film in The Purge‘s horror franchise will be released next year… and this could be the final one in the series.

The movie, which is still untitled, will hit theaters on July 10, 2020.

All four previous movies in the franchise were written by James DeMonaco and he spoke with EW last year about his plans for the fifth movie.

“I have it in my head,” he said. “I think I’m going to write it. I think it’s a great way to end it all. We want to end it all, I think, in this one, and I’m very excited. When I came up with the idea and pitched it to everybody, they seemed psyched, and I think it will be a really cool ending, how we take this one home.”

The Purge also is now a television series on USA!

Zendaya Slams Fan Asking Which Celeb You'd Rape if 'The Purge' Was Real

Zendaya just shut down a fan who asked his followers which celebrity they would want to rape if the movie The Purge was real.

In the film franchise, nothing is illegal for one night every year in an effort to lower crime throughout the rest of the year.

“If the purge was real who y’all raping?” the fan tweeted along with pictures of Zendaya, Beyonce, Rihanna, and Nicki Minaj.

“This is absolutely disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourself. Is this really what my generation thinks is ok?” Zendaya tweeted in response. “People are sick…”

When the fan seemed excited over Zendaya‘s reaction and said it was “lit” that she saw the tweet, she replied, “the only thing that’s lit is your immorality and inhumanity young man. I pray you find some sense.”
