Carey Mulligan goes glam in Chanel at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards on Monday (November 15) at NYC’s Skylight Soho.

The 25-year-old British actress wore a sequined embroidered dress from the French fashion label’s Fall/Winter Haute Couture Collection.

While Carey was attending the event, she learned she would be playing Daisy Buchanan in the upcoming Great Gatsby film!

Director Baz Luhrmann called her cell phone to give her the good news himself, prompting her to burst into tears in front of designer Karl Lagerfeld and Vogue‘s Editor in Chief Anna Wintour.
