'Transformers' Topples 'Tammy' at Fourth of July Box Office

Transformers: Age of Extinction came out victorious again at the weekend box office!

The action film starring Mark Wahlberg and Nicola Peltz grossed $36.4 million over the weekend. It’s worldwide total currently stands at an astounding $575.6 million in just ten days.

Coming in second place was Melissa McCarthy‘s new comedy Tammy with $21 million for the three-day weekend and $32.9 million across the five day holiday.

Rounding out the top five were the new horror movie Deliver Us From Evil with $9.5 million, 22 Jump Street with $9.4 million, and the animated flick How to Train Your Dragon 2 with $8.75 million.

Also opening this weekend was Earth to Echo, which placed sixth with $8.25 million. Expanding into wide release were the documentary America at number 11 with $2.725 million, Keira Knightley‘s Begin Again with a strong $1.3 million at number 15, and Chris EvansSnowpiercer with just under a million dollars at number 16.
