Netflix Clarifies Rumors About Ads For Their Streaming Service

Netflix users began taking to Twitter when ads began popping up during streaming of various shows and movies using the service.

Spokespeople for Netflix are now responding to the rumors that third party ads will be a regular part of the streaming experience.

“We do not and will not be adding third-party ads,” one spokesperson told Vice, adding that the service IS testing advertisements for its own original content with some select viewers.

“They’re not ads in the traditional sense,” a Netflix spokesperson added to The Verge. “They are trailers for Netflix originals. As you know, we test hundreds of potential improvements to the service every year. Many never extend beyond that.”

So it is possible that you may see a Netflix ad during your viewing, but it may never extend beyond the current testing phase.
