Same-Sex Marriage Ruled Constitutional by Supreme Court!

The Supreme Court of the United States ruled that state bans on same-sex marriage are unconstitutional in a 5-4 decision on Friday (June 26).

The justices had to answer “whether the 14th Amendment’s guarantee of equal protection and due process require a state to license a marriage between two people of the same sex,” according to Variety.

“No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice and family,” Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote for the majority. “In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than they once were.”

Until now, 37 states recognized same-sex marriage, but now the marriages will be recognized nationwide!
