'The Rock' Screenwriter Douglas Cook Dead at 56

Screenwriter Douglas Cook has sadly passed away at the age of 56.

The screenwriter died on Sunday afternoon (July 19) surrounded by family in Santa Monica, Calif., according to Deadline.

Douglas is best known for the screenplays he wrote with his writing partner David Weisberg. This included the 1996 film The Rock as well as 1999′s Double Jeopardy and the upcoming Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Costner film Criminal.
