Gwen Stefani Talks About the Inspiration for Her New Single

Gwen Stefani hits the red carpet at the 2015 UCLA Neurosurgery Visionary Ball held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on Thursday (October 29) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Also in attendance at the event were Gwen‘s The Voice co-judges Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams, singer Chris Martin, and Survivor host Jeff Probst.

At the event, Gwen was asked by People to reveal the inspiration for her new song “Used to Love You.”

“It’s funny when people try to go deeper into a song that’s already, like so spilling my guts. What else can I say?” Gwen said. “I’ve never put music out in real time where I’m really going through stuff. I only wrote that song a few weeks ago.”
