Lupita Nyong'o Says 'Queen Of Katwe' Marks A 'Major Change' For Diversifying Hollywood
Lupita Nyong’o is all smiles while attending a special screening and live Q&A for her latest fiilm Queen of Katwe held at AMC Theater on Monday (September 19) in Century City, Calif.
The 33-year-old actress was joined at the event by her co-stars Madina Nalwanga and David Oyelowo, director Mira Nair, as well as Robert Katende and Phiona Mutesi, who Madina and David portray in the film.

“I don’t think any one person does it. I think it’s the movement of lots of individuals coming together at one time,” Lupita expressed, referring to if her career is paving the way for a more diverse Hollywood (via RedEye). “It’s a convergence of intention, you know? So I certainly hope that me being around and working is changing something, shifting something, but I don’t think I can claim the power of being able to shift an entire industry. We are about to open Queen of Katwe across America, I think that is a major change.”
